Yvonne Brandebourg

Yvonne Brandebourg, 71, of Flat Rock, IL, passed away peacefully on November 20, 2024, at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, IN.

Born on February 22, 1953, to Harry "Brick" and Velma (Johnson) Montgomery, Yvonne spent most of her life in Lawrenceville and Flat Rock, IL. She raised her family in Lawrenceville from 1975 to 2003, shaping countless cherished memories there. Later, she moved to Mt. Carmel, IL, where she married Frank Brandebourg. Though their marriage ended, they remained close friends, sharing many laughs and lunch dates over the years. Eventually, Yvonne returned to Flat Rock, where her heart always felt most at home.

Yvonne graduated from Robinson High School and later earned her degree from Olney Central College, embarking on a career that led her to the Lawrence County State Attorney's Office. As a secretary there for 25 years, she left a lasting legacy of dedication and professionalism, retiring in 2016.

Known for her lively personality and quick wit, Yvonne was affectionately nicknamed "Yacky Yvonne" by a dear friend-a name that perfectly captured her love for conversation and connection. She brought humor and joy to every gathering, leaving those around her with fond memories and hearty laughs.

Yvonne found happiness in life's simple pleasures. She loved shopping for shoes, purses, and watches, attending dinner nights with her girlfriends and co-workers, and cheering on her grandchildren at their games. She adored hummingbirds, often spending quiet mornings on her porch glider watching them flit about. Above all, her family brought her the greatest joy, and she cherished every moment spent with her children and grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughters, Nikki & Nick Peters and Jessica & Dave Hotchkiss; her grandchildren, Dalton Hobbs, Harley Hobbs, Kyrstin Hotchkiss, Kyia Hotchkiss, and Skylar Hotchkiss; and her nephew, Chris Montgomery. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Pamela Montgomery, and her brother Alan Montgomery in infancy.

A time of visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Monday, November 25th, at Goodwine Funeral Home in Flat Rock. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 26th, at the funeral home, with Pastor J.D. Branson officiating.
