Winfred Delane Adams

Winfred Delane Adams, 86, of Robinson, IL, passed away on July 13, 2022, at Crawford Memorial Hospital in Robinson, IL. He was born on January 28, 1936, the son of Rev. Forrest Lyman Adams & Thelma (Coulter) Adams, both of whom preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Juanita, on February 13, 1978, and by his second wife, Arlene, on December 27, 2003.

He is survived by his wife of 17 years, Roberta (Doyle) Adams; his son & daughter-in-law, Paul & Connie Adams (Omaha, NE); his daughter, Rebecca Adams (Ocala, FL); step-daughter & son-in-law, Lynn & John Nethery (Palestine, IL); step-son, Larry Manuel II (Indianapolis, IN); as well as several beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

The son of a pastor, Delane lived all over the area in his youth. Eventually, he found a career in the trucking industry, working in Oklahoma, Kansas, and Iowa as a dispatcher for Sunoco before retiring as a driver for C.A. Picard. His travels didn't stop there, however, as he enjoyed taking in the beauty of God's creation on various trips, especially to Florida, where he spent much of the twilight years of his life.

Time at home often found him enjoying treats such as green bananas and Payday bars. Needless to say, the man had a sweet tooth like you wouldn't believe! A lover of sport, Delane was particularly enamored with basketball, a pastime that brought him countless hours of entertainment. He also found joy in music, especially the old country standards and gospel music. A man of deep, abiding faith, his trust in the Lord permeated his life. His kindness and generosity were born out of a relationship with Jesus, who made Delane's death but a doorway into resurrected life!

A time of visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 16th, at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson. Funeral services will immediately follow and be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home with Rev. Paul Gray officiating. Burial will be in the Robinson New Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the "American Cancer Society", with envelopes available at the funeral home.
