William Marvin

William Marvin, 92, of West Union, IL, died at 7:15 a.m. (C.S.T.) Sunday, December 6, 2009 at Union Hospital, Terre Haute, IN. He was born December 20, 1916 in West Union, the son of William H. Marvin and Gladys Dillman Marvin. He lived in West Union all his life. He was a farmer and was owner operator of Marvin’s General Store until he retired in 1980. He worked in the store as a boy and inherited it from his father. Due to his poor health, he and his wife Louise, moved to Burnside Nursing Center for 8 months and then moved to their new apartment 2 weeks ago. He would have been 93 on December 20th. He was a member of the West Union First Christian Church.Bill married Louise Cox on January 12, 1936 and she survives. He is also survived by his 2 daughters and his son-in-law, Sandra Lankford, Indianapolis, IN, Janice and Bill Owens, San Antonio, TX; and 2 grandsons, Erick Lankford, Germany and Brent Lankford, Indianapolis, IN.He was preceded in death by is parents; his son-in-law, Hansel Lankford; and his sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy and George Flint.Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 10th at the Prust-Hosch Funeral Home with Pastor Billy Ray Ulrey officiating. Burial will be in the Roselawn Cemetery, Terre Haute, IN. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 9th at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society with envelopes available at the funeral home.
