William Louis Damron

William Louis Damron, 97, of Robinson, IL, died November 20, 2020, at Union Hospital in Terre Haute, IN. He was born December 23, 1922, in Herrin, IL, the son of William Fredrick Monroe Damron & Maudie (Erwin) Damron, both of whom preceded him in death. He married the love of his life, Dorothy Belle Cover on May 5, 1944, and she preceded him in death on March 25, 2015. He was also preceded in death by his sisters, Genevieve Brandon and Violet Benz. He is survived by his son & daughter-in-law, William Francis & Kaye A. Damron (Flat Rock, IL); his daughters & sons-in-law, Betty Lou & Jesse William Saddler (Columbus, IN) and Ruth Ann & Lou Berolatti (Robinson, IL); his grandchildren & their spouses, William Paul & Africa Saddler (Columbus, IN), Scott Alan & Lisa Saddler (Columbus, IN), Julie K. & Kent Sandschafer (Robinson, IL), William Scott & Michele Damron (Effingham, IL), Allison René & Greg Parker (Effingham, IL), Krystal Nicole & Lance Cooper (Oxnard, CA), Daniel Levi Damron (Robinson, IL), Barbara Ann & James Riggs (Robinson, IL), Michael Louis & Denise Berolatti (Highland, IL), Regina N. & Mitch Funk (Avon, IN); his great-grandchildren, William Paul Saddler (Indianapolis, IN), Parker Cain & Raeanne Saddler (Columbus, IN), Preston William Saddler (Columbus, IN), Nicholas Riley & Taite Sandschafer (TX) Walker James Sandschafer (Robinson, IL), Jessica Lee & Cory Householder (Springfield, IL), Lindsey Michelle & Ryan Brown (Shelbyville , IL), Ethan Gregory Jude Parker (Effingham, IL), Anthony James Lee (Avon, IN), Daniel Gary Damron (Memphis, TN), Alexis Marie Damron (Effingham, IL), Charlotte Faith Cooper (Oxnard, CA), Sophia Grace Cooper (Oxnard, CA), Naomi Joy Cooper (St. Louis, MO), Thaddeus Malcolm Cooper (Oxnard, CA), Olivia Susan Damron (Oxford, AL), William Eli Damron (Oxford, AL), Hailey Elizabeth Riggs (Newburgh, IN), Joseph Michael Riggs (Terre Haute, IN), Gabrielle Marie Berolatti (Highland, IL), Garrett Michael Berolatti (Highland, IL), and William Alexander Sandschafer (Robinson, IL); his great-great-grandchildren, Emma Rose Brown and Mordecai Sandschafer; as well as several nieces and nephews. Anyone who knew Bill could attest to the fact that he was a hard worker. For years, he worked his way up in the trucking business before retiring from CW Transport as a terminal manager at the age of 57. Bill enjoyed a long, fulfilling retirement, much of which was spent outdoors. He was a longtime and avid hunter and also enjoyed the type of peace that only comes with a fishing pole in hand. Back home, he'd often be found in his wood shop, and crafted together countless trinkets and treasures that his family have to hold onto for years to come. They will remember their dad and grandpa as a man who operated out of a place of deep compassion. He loved his family with all his heart, but his pride and joy was always his wife, Dorothy. We have peace in knowing that, by the grace of God, they have been reunited. Due to the newly-increased public safety measures being enforced by the State of Illinois, there will not be a public visitation, nor will there be an in-person service.
