Willella "Billie" Bubeck

November 18, 1924 — November 10, 2018

Willella “Billie” Bubeck, 93, of rural West Union, IL, died at 12:15 a.m. on Saturday, November 10, 2018 at Burnsides Community Health Center in Marshall, IL. She was born November 18, 1924 in Paris, IL the daughter of Cassandra (Lucas) and James Mattason Samford. Billie and her family moved to Marshall when she was entering the 7th grade. She would go on to graduate from Marshall High School before enrolling at Varners Beauty School in Paris, where she learned the skills necessary to become a beautician. Upon completing her certification, Billie began working as a beautician in the Marshall House. It was at this point in her life that she married Fred Fraker, who preceded her in death after only four years of marriage, the result of a tree-cutting accident. Billie would find love again, this time with Frank Bubeck. They were married June 14, 1949, and this union produced her three beloved children, Carl, Nancy, and Jill. She dedicated nearly all of her time to providing a loving, caring home for them. Once they had grown, Billie was able to focus on her hobbies. From a young age, she always had a passion for horses, and at this stage in her life, she was able to pursue this interest. For years, she showed her horses in parades and various horse shows. An animal lover at heart, she had pets of all kinds of species and even raised poodles and wire hair fox terriers. Billie will be remembered as a fun-loving soul who wasn’t afraid to speak the truth. Her positive attitude was, and will continue to be, a source of inspiration in the hearts of all who knew her. She is survived by her 3 children & their spouses: her son & daughter-in-law, Carl & Mindy Bubeck (rural West Union, IL) and her 2 daughters & sons-in-law, Nancy & John Smith, Jr. (West Union, IL) and Jill & Willard Paxton (Cerulean, KY); and by 8 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; by her husbands, Fred Fraker and Frank Bubeck; and by her sisters, Virginia Hasler and June Cork. A time of visitation will be held from 9:00-11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 13th at the Prust-Hosch Funeral Home in West Union. Services will immediately follow and will be held at 11:00 a.m. with Steve Dolson officiating. Memorials may be made to Lincolnland Hospice, with envelopes at the funeral home.
