Wanza F. [Williams] Sauls, age 89, passed peacefully into heaven on Friday, July 1, 2022, with her family by her side. She endured a difficult battle with dementia and was cared for by the superior staff of Arbor Rose in Robinson since November 2020.
Wanza entered this world on September 23, 1932, in Crenshaw County, AL, the ninth of ten children to Jasper and Gonnie [Smith] Williams. As the last living sibling, she was preceded in death by three sisters and six brothers, in addition to her parents and two grandchildren.
She married Murble H. Sauls, Sr., in Covington County, AL, on June 2, 1951. They recently reached the incredible milestone of 71 years of marriage. Together they have two children, Rhonda Brotherton [Terry] of Mattoon, IL and Hal Sauls of Robinson, IL; two grandchildren, Patrick Salesberry (Mandy) of Washington, IL and Brandon Salesberry (Christina) of Chicago, IL; and seven great-grandchildren, Noah, Nyla, Nash, and Nora of Washington and Rosie, Finn, and Ozzie of Chicago.
Together, she and Murble enjoyed golfing, traveling, square dancing, and attending all their grandchildren’s events after she retired from Heath Candy Co. in 1988.
Wanza had an incredibly difficult childhood which shaped her life as an adult. She was a strong Christian woman who faced every challenge in her life with courage placing her family (especially her grandchildren) first in all she did.
