Wanda Lue Biernbaum, 81 of Palestine, IL, died at 1:50 a.m. Wednesday, December 2, 2009 at her residence. She was born September 18, 1928 in Hutsonville, IL, the daughter of Ralph E. Newlin and Freida Clements Newlin. She attended the Hutsonville Grade School and Hutsonville High School. She was a homemaker; an active member of the St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, Robinson, where she served as President of the Church's Altar Society for nearly 10 years; and she was also a longtime dedicated member of the Ladies of Charity of Robinson.Wanda married Raymond A. Biernbaum on August 23, 1947 and he preceded her in death on April 26, 1984. Raymond was a former longtime Palestine businessman. She was also preceded in death by her parents; her son, Charles Lynn Biernbaum in infancy; her daughter, Beverly Joanne Biernbaum in infancy; and her granddaughter, Brittney Diane Biernbaum; her siblings, Aubry Newlin, Juanita Robert, Jackie Glenn Newlin and Herbert Ralph Newlin both at infancy.She is survived by her 5 sons and daughters-in-law, Dennis and Ruth Biernbaum, Palestine, Don and Mary Ann Biernbaum, Palestine, Bob and Linda Biernbaum, Katy, TX, Ron Biernbaum, Palestine, Terry Biernbaum and Nancy Shidler, Robinson; her daughter and son-in-law, Bev and David Stanfield, Palestine; 18 grandchildren, John Biernbaum, Macomb, IL, Eric Biernbaum, Palestine, Julie Boyd, Camby, IN, Maranda Richardson, Bloomington, IN, Jason Biernbaum, Annapolis, Amy Sornberger, Robinson, Brent Biernbaum, Romeoville, Stephanie Biernbaum, New York, NY, Ryan Biernbaum, Katy, TX, Erika Biernbaum, Palestine, Lucas Stanfield, Palestine, Lynn Griffin, Palestine, PFC Emma Stanfield, USMC, Kristin Biernbaum, Newton, Erica O'Dell, Robinson, Eric Shidler, Robinson, Bobbie Shidler, Flat Rock, James Shidler, Flat Rock; 12 great grandchildren, Jacob Boyd, Jordan Boyd, Logan Biernbaum, August Biernbaum, Jackson Sornberger, Lexie Biernbaum, Wayne Stanfield, Owen Griffin, Allison Shidler, Gavin O'Dell, Addison Shidler, and Madison Shidler; 3 brothers and sisters-in-law, Paul and Gerri Newlin, Brownsburg, IN, Richard and Lindene Newlin, Hutsonville, Kenneth and Shirley Newlin, Hutsonville; 1 sister, Raedell LeForge, DeSoto; 3 sisters-in-law, Betty Newlin, Paris, Jen Biernbaum, Denver, Co, and Rita Kessler, Randolph NE; and several nieces and nephews.Funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, December 7th at the St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Robinson with Rev. Bill Overmann in charge. Burial will be in the Palestine Cemetery. A prayer service will be held at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Palestine at 4:00 p.m. Sunday, December 6th. Visitation will follow the prayer service until 7:30 p.m.Memorials may be made to the St. Elizabeth Catholic Church or to the Lincolnland Hospice.
