Vivian Rose Inboden Tracy

September 23, 1937 — October 8, 2023

Vivian Rose Inboden Tracy, born September 23, 1937, left this world and entered the next on angels' wings to meet her Savior on October 8, 2023. She found her new life and her perfect body free of the pain and suffering that she endured as of late. She found that perfect peace.

She is survived by her husband of 30 years, Norman Tracy, at Fox Ridge Assisted Living in Vincennes, IN. She is also survived by her daughter & son-in-law, Sheila & Mark Elder (Robinson, IL); by her stepsons, Bryan & Kim Tracy (Huntsville, TX) and Bryce & Crystal Tracy (Carmi, IL); by her grandchildren, Erin & Ryan Heady (Nixa MO), Andrew & Valerie Elder (Robinson, IL), and Heather & Doug McNary, (Robinson, IL); by her great grandchildren, Katelyn Elder, Haley McNary, Aiden Elder, Caleb McNary, Grace McNary, Sean Heady, and Drew Heady; by her step-grandchildren, Derek Tracy, Nathan Tracy, and Dylan Tracy; by her sister, Martha Sisil (Robinson, IL); by her sisters-in-law, although by her consideration they, were sisters rather than sisters in laws, Mabel Inboden, Beulah Inboden, LaVern Inboden, Phyllis Inboden, and Karon Inboden, as well as her much-loved nieces and nephews, and there are many.

When she went home at 3:38 that morning, she was greeted by her Jesus, whom she loved with all of her heart, along with her parents, Byrl (Pat) & Dora (Waggoner) Inboden, her baby boy she longed for but never got to meet; her brothers George, Fred, Max, Ira, Byrl and Wilbur Inboden; her sisters, Virginia Cooper and Marilyn Dix; her sister in law, Nancy Inboden; and her step-grandson, Casey Tracy, whom she never forgot.

She loved her husband, Norman, more than life itself, and they "had a fun time together, as Norman put it, and 30 years was not enough". They loved just being together. They had many exciting times and loved having family nearby. Norman was by her side throughout the last few weeks of her hospital and rehab stay, loving her and longing for her to come back home to him and their beloved Westie, Jazzy, whom she loved. Jazzy always knew "mommy" had a treat in her purse for her.

When Sheila was born, she was elated to have a baby girl, and as Sheila grew, she always said how very proud she was, and she quoted, "Having a Daughter in your life is one of life's greatest treasures." She and Sheila spent the last few years, and especially the last week and a half, having nice talks that will not be forgotten but will be treasured. Her son-in-law was closer than that; "he was the son she never had," she said over and over through the years. Vivian was so proud of Mark and loved him very much. She thought more of Mark sometimes than me, Sheila said.

She graduated Oblong High School in 1955 along with Norman, being in the same small class at school many years before, and they had a lot in common. She always enjoyed class reunions and enjoyed getting together and seeing classmates. She worked at the Sugar Bowl in Robinson out of high school and was married and had Sheila. She worked at the Pottery, LS Heath and Sons, and Oblong Bank. She was good at what she did and was always proud of her accomplishment of shorthand and getting a pin for being so good and quick.

Words cannot express how much she loved her grandchildren with all of her heart; she just talked on Saturday of the time she took her grandson, Andy, when he was about 8 years old to see the Cubs play at Wrigley Field and what a time they had, we aren't sure who had the most fun. She spoke of Erin living away and of her boys not being able to see them as often and missing them. Of Heather, she spoke of what a great mother she is, she always enjoyed sleepovers with them when they were young and how very proud she was of all their accomplishments. She loved her grandchildren immensely.

She was full of stories of her grandchildren and the times she spent with them through the years. She was so very proud of all of them. She always spoke of Norman's grandchildren being as much hers as his and so very proud of them. She was very proud of Derek being a Navy man and serving his country and spoke of him often and prayed for his safety. She spoke of Nathan being such a good fisherman like his grandpa and Dylan, how he loved everybody and was always willing to give you a hug to make your day just a little brighter.

If you knew Vivian at all, her family meant the world to her; whether you were a new family member or an old family member, she loved you, and you knew it. It was said several times in messages Sheila received this week that the nieces and nephews knew Aunt Vivian loved them whether anyone else did or not. Vivian loved her Inboden heritage and was very proud of it; she recently started some genealogy searches and was enjoying learning about it.

She was a virtuous woman full of love and kindness for all. She moved to Fox Ridge Assisted Living in December 2021 and found herself surrounded by people who loved her, and she loved them as well, staff and residents alike. They were a family of which she often spoke. The new lady residents sat at her table, so she should show them the ropes, and she welcomed them with open arms. She was kind to everyone. She always wanted them to feel at home and comfortable. If Vivian found you as a friend, you became a lifelong friend.

She loved her crocheting and made many afghans for her family, and her Spanish Cream Pie was out of this world; it was her "secret" recipe, but she finally shared it with Sheila after much pleading. Her Italian Beef was her own creation and was so good with that " little touch of love" put into it. She looked forward to her birthday dinner of crab legs every year, but this year was not to be.

She accepted the Lord as her personal Savior and lived a long life following Jesus. She attended Zion United Methodist as a child, Plymouth Congregational Christian, Robinwood Assembly of God for many years, and in her later years, New Hebron Baptist. She led many people to the Lord and loved supporting the Baptist Children's Home and Family Services in Carmi and Angels' Cove Maternity and Adoption. They both touched her heart.

There was not much she didn't like; it was common knowledge that Vivian disliked gravy very much when she was younger and coming from a large country family and having gravy as a staple, She often found her plate filled with gravy by her six brothers which they found to be funny, Vivian did not. Whenever she visited restaurants, she specified no gravy, but to no avail; there was gravy on her plate, she would look up, and we all looked at each other, and we knew exactly what she was thinking; even on Saturday, she looked at Sheila and Mark, and she shook her head, and we all had a good laugh. Vivian enjoyed life, nature, and God's creation; she loved birds, and the color yellow was her favorite, as everybody knew. We're sure she's wearing yellow today.

If you were to sit and talk to Vivian today, she would tell you the most important thing you could do in your life is to accept Jesus as your personal Savior. She is thankful she did, and what a time of rejoicing with family members and friends she is having. Sitting at the feet of Jesus or maybe dancing on the streets of Gold.
