Virginia Lindley

October 4, 1928 — December 25, 2020

Virginia Rose Lindley, 92, of Marshall, IL, died December 25, 2020 at Union Hospital in Terre Haute, IN. She was born October 4, 1928, in Gary, IN the daughter of William Henry Lindley & Emma Cleo (Wells) Lindley, both of whom preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Marilyn Edwards; and her brother, John W. "Jack" Lindley. She is survived by her niece, Nancy Lynne Robinson (rural West Union, IL); by her two great-nephews, Ethan James Robinson (Charleston, IL) and Jeremiah Robinson (rural West Union, IL); as well as a number of extended family members and friends. Virginia grew up in West Union, IL, and was a 1946 graduate of Hutsonville High School. Though she worked on the family farm through the summers of '46 and '47, this period of her life found her in Chicago, where she worked at a grocery store and at Bell Telephone before moving back home to care for her father, who died in 1948. She eventually made her way into the insurance industry and sold all four major lines of insurance in West Union for many years. Late in life, she put her faith and her life in God's hands and was baptized through the United Church of God in West Terre Haute alongside her brother Jack. Scripture tells us that to be absent from the body is to be present with God, and we find joy knowing that this rings true for Virginia today. Due to the newly-increased public safety measures being enforced by the State of Illinois, funeral services will be private. Virginia will be laid to rest in the Harrison Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the West Terre Haute "United Church of God". Checks may be mailed to: Goodwine Funeral Homes 303 E Main St Robinson, IL 62454 The Prust-Hosch Funeral Home in West Union is in charge of arrangements.
