Viola Miller, 92, of Robinson, IL, died Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at Cotillion Ridge in Robinson. She was born August 10, 1928, in Hutsonville, IL, the daughter of Everett Osborn & Goldie (Harrington) Osborn, both of whom preceded her in death. She married Dale D. "Red" Miller on August 16, 1947, and he preceded her in death on June 7, 2001. She was also preceded in death by her step-mother, Faye Stife-Osborn; by her brothers, Robert Osborn, and Franklin Osborn (both in infancy), Donald Osborn, Denver Osborn, and Jack Rice; by her sister, Geneva Spade-Tracy; by her brother-in-law, Eugene Lockhart; by her daughter, Donna Weck; by three grandsons, Richard, Raymond, and Ronald Weck (all in infancy); and by two great-grandsons, Cody Arnett and Joseph Holcomb. She is survived by her sons & daughters-in-law, Keith & Martha Miller (Flat Rock, IL) and Randy Miller (Palestine, IL); by her daughter & son-in-law, Connie & Charlie Coombes (Robinson, IL); by her son-in-law, Robert Weck (Robinson, IL); by her daughter-in-law, Wilma Miller (Robinson, IL); by her granddaughters, Robin and Stacy Kesler (Flat Rock, IL), Cathy & Eric Warner (Robinson, IL), Kim Weck (Palestine, IL), Angela Clay (Bridgeport, IL), Carrie Weck (Palestine, IL), Lori Hardesty (Palestine, IL), Dawn & Andy Brown (Russelville, IL), Debbie Wiseman (Robinson, IL), Christina Coombes (Robinson, IL); by 25 great-grandchildren and 16 great-great-grandchildren; by her sister, Virginia Lockhart (Bellair, IL); by her brother-in-law, Rollie Spade (Lawrenceville, IL); as well as several nieces and nephews. Viola dedicated her life to caring for her house and all those blessed to call it "home". Here, she spent countless hours with a needle in hand, sewing together dresses, blankets, and even bibs for local nursing homes. She was also known to garden as well as watch birds, two pasttimes that brought life to her living. She also found great joy in looking for deals, be that through couponing, rebating, attending yard sales, or by taking part in WTAY's Bulletin Board. It was apparent that her heart was others-centered, as she was a longtime volunteer for the Robinson Clothing Center as well as the missions director for Wesleyan Kids. A longtime member of the Wesleyan Church, she also taught Sunday School for many years, and in this capacity, had the privilege of helping to open the minds of children to the way of Christ. It was out of her own walk with Jesus that allowed Viola to love with abundance without ever running out. We find both peace and hope that on Tuesday, Viola Miller was met with the words, "Well done, my good and faithful servant." Due to the newly-increased public safety measures being enforced by the State of Illinois, funeral services will be private. However, a live stream of her service will be available to the public starting at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 5, 2021. This can be viewed on Goodwine Funeral Homes' Facebook page or by going to https://www.goodwinefuneralhomes.com/live-stream/live-stream . Viola will be laid to rest in the Robinson New Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to her memorial fund, with checks made payable to "Goodwine Funeral Homes". The Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson is in charge of arrangements.
