Vickie Sanders

Vickie Sanders, 77, passed away peacefully on April 14, 2024. Born on January 2, 1947, in Hardinville, IL, her life would be one of dedication and hard work. After graduating from high school, she joined the workforce at Ettelbrick Shoe Factory, where she remained until its closure. She then took her talents to Victor Dana, devoting many years of service until her well-deserved retirement. Her colleagues will remember her for her reliability, warmth, and the camaraderie she fostered among her peers.

Outside of her professional endeavors, Vickie nurtured a deep love for reading and could often be found with a book in hand, lost within the pages of a story. Her passion for the written word was paralleled only by her love of Elvis Presley. Her fascination with and admiration for "The King of Rock'n'Roll" was no secret; she was an avid fan who took great pride in her extensive collection of Elvis memorabilia. She also collected hours of time watching Westerns on TV, which allowed her to traverse the wild frontiers from the comfort of her home. Now that she has crossed the final frontier, we who are left behind will undoubtedly cherish our memories of Vickie and honor her legacy for as long as we have the breath to speak her name.

She is survived by her brothers & sister-in-law, Raymond & Kay Sanders and Ronald Sanders; her sister, Barbara Garrard; as well as several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer & Bernice (Jones) Sanders and by a sister in infancy.

A time of visitation will be held from 9:00-11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 22nd, at Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson. Funeral services will immediately follow and be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday. Memorial contributions may be made to "Oak Ridge United Methodist Church", with envelopes available at the funeral home.
