Vernon Aloysius Stallings

Vernon Aloysius Stallings, 77, of Robinson, IL, died at Carle Hospital, Champaign, IL, Wednesday, January 14, 2009. He was born July 7, 1931 in Roswell, NM, the son of Emanuell B. Stallings and Artie Belle Adams Stallings. He was an Industrial Insulator. He was a member of Elks Lodge #206 in Henderson, KY, Robinson American Legion Post #69, and Insulators and Asbestos Workers Local #37.He married Sharon Tracy January 12, 2003 and she survives. He is also survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Jeannie and David White, San Lorenzo, CA; 2 sons and daughters-in-law, Joe and Linda Stallings, Pensacola, FL, Tracy and Kim Stallings, Henderson, KY; 3 step sons and their wives, James and Angie Overfield, Robinson, Dr. Shawn Bailey, LeClaire, Iowa, Eric and Kelly Bailey, Arlington Heights; 4 grandchildren; 1 step granddaughter; 2 step great grandsons; 3 sisters, Imogene Underhill, Mary Rita and her husband, David Bays, Martha Ann Adkins, all of Rockport, IN; his brother and sister-in-law, Lamar and Donna Stallings, Cannelton, IN; and several nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers, Anthony and Gerald Stallings and 2 sisters, Dorothy Willhelmus and Louise Dillingham.Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday, January 16th at the Goodwine Funeral Home, Robinson. Following visitation he will be taken to Southern Illinois University, Carbondale where his body will be donated to science. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or to the V. F. W. Post #4549 Transportation Fund with envelopes available at the funeral Home.
