Vera J. Shears

Vera J. Shears, 85 of Robinson, died at 1:22 p.m. Sunday, August 08, 2010 at Cotillion Ridge Nursing Center in Robinson. She was born May 19, 1925 in Robinson, IL, the daughter of Henry A. Beard and Jessie S. Anderson Beard. She worked for 21 years in Chicago for Illinois Bell Telephone Co. in their Labor Relations Department. She was a member of the Cates Community Church in Cates, IN and the Ladies Missionary in Cates. She attended the Highland Avenue Baptist Church in Robinson upon her return to Robinson. She married Roland Shears on February 19, 1942 and he preceded her in death on June 1, 1991. She was also preceded in death by her parents; her son Randal Shears; her grandson Christopher €œAndy€ Shears; 3 brothers, Paul. Virgil, and Clyde Beard; her three sisters, Mary Helen Williams, Libby Hatfield, and Kathryn Murphy.She is survived by her grandson and his wife, Randal and Jennifer Shears, Washington Court House, OH; 5 great grandchildren, Kaitland, Nicholas, Taylor, Owen, and Paige Shears; her brother and sister-in-law, Sam and Glenda Beard, Flat Rock; 3 sisters, Thelma Levels, Evansville, IN, Rose Bledsoe, Robinson, and Viola Wartsbaugh, Robinson.Funeral services will be Wednesday, August 11th at 10:30 a.m. at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Palestine. Burial will be in the Palestine Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. to service time at 10:30 a.m.
