Treva D. Matthews

Treva D. Matthews, 86 of Indianapolis, IN, died at her home Friday, July 29, 2011. She was born December 15, 1924 in Morea, IL, the daughter of Herbert Hess and Mable East Hess. She worked for over 30 years at Ft. Benjamin Harrison in the €œMapping Department€ and was an avid quilter, quilting for the elderly in nursing homes.Treva married Leslie Vernon Matthews and he preceded her in death in December 1978. She was also preceded by her parents and 4 brothers, Floyd, Glen, Howard, and O€™Neal Hess. Survivors include 2 brothers, Lee Hess, Indianapolis, IN and Keith Hess, Montgomery, IN; her sister Nadine Estes, Nacogdoches, TX; several nieces and nephews; and 3 sisters-in-law, Reba Hess, Palestine, Mildred Hess, Robinson, and Alice Hess, South Elgin.Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. (c.s.t.) Wednesday, August 3rd at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Palestine. Burial will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery, rural Palestine. Visitation will be from 12:00 noon to service time at 2:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Oak Grove Cemetery Association or to the Palestine District Library.
