Tom Phillippe

Tom Phillippe, 76, of Robinson, IL, died at 2:15 a.m. (EST) on Thursday, March 14, 2019 at Regional Hospital in Terre Haute, IN. He was born March 7, 1943 in Robinson, the son of Lawrence & Beth (Carey) Phillippe, both of whom preceded him in death. He married Myrna Watson on February 15, 1962 and they were married for 56 blessed years before she preceded him in death on June 10, 2018. He was also preceded in death by his son, Tommy Dale Phillippe on December 28, 2016; by his sister, Luann Phillippe in infancy; by his mother-in-law, Fern Jordan; and by his beloved dog, Zoie. He is survived by his daughter, Deborah Earnest (Robinson, IL); by five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; by his siblings & their spouses, Larry & Hermelinda Phillippe (MT), Van “Bud” & Judy Phillippe (MO), Jack & Netta Phillippe (Robinson, IL), Dan & Donna Phillippe (Robinson, IL), Patti Cooper (WA), and Gina & Larry Wilson (Flat Rock, IL); by his brother-in-law & sister-in-law, Bob & Mary Jo Watson (Annapolis, IL); as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Tom spent most of his life in the Robinson area, the notable exception being the years he spent serving our country in the U.S. Navy. This period of his life found him on the USS Essex during the Cuban Missile Crisis. Back home, he went to work for Marathon, where he spent over 30 years before retiring as chief operator in January of 1998. Much of his time outside of work was spent on the golf course; he even made a couple holes-in-one over the years! Upon first meeting him, you were quickly made aware of two things: his undeniable sense of humor and Tom’s love of all-things trivia. There didn’t seem to be a limit to what he knew! After Myrna died, he joined the Robinson Lion’s Club, with whom he was very dedicated and active member over this last year. Family and friends are invited to bring unused glasses to Tom’s service, to be donated in honor of his service in the organization. A time of visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 on Tuesday, March 19th at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson. A memorial service will follow and will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home. In honor of Tom’s wife, Myrna and the hundreds of blankets she made for the organization, memorials may be made to Project Linus, with envelopes available at the funeral home.
