Tina Weger, 62, of Robinson, IL, gained her crown on Mother's Day, May 9, 2021, in the comfort of her home surrounded by her beloved family. She was born November 16, 1958, in Vincennes, IN, the daughter of James R. & Marilyn (Garrard) Skidmore. The daughter of a military man, she grew up all over before her family finally settled back home in 1970. A 1976 graduate of Robinson High School, she worked at Gallo's Red & White, where she met her first husband, David, who she married on June 25, 1977. Soon, she became a stay-at-home mom to her growing family, and these were some of the sweetest years of her life. When her children were old enough, she re-entered the workforce as a lunch lady for Washington Grade School, a job that allowed her to touch the lives of countless area children. Over the years, she was also able to make a living as a housecleaner and seamstress. In fact, she was so skilled with a needle and thread that she was able to fashion together her children's Halloween costumes and, later, their prom and bridesmaid's dresses. No matter what she made, she had a tendency to wait until the very last minute! Eventually, she became a transcriptionist, a career that allowed her to work from the comfort of her home. Home was, by all accounts, where her heart was. It was here that she was able to exercise her God-given green thumb. Few things brought more life to her living than tending to her irises, tulips, orchids, and violets. The summer often found her taking in the beauty of the sunflowers, which, like Tina, were a vision of warmth and color. Her home was also where her family gathered. It was evident that nothing was more important to her than those she loved most in this world. She was known to invest herself into her loved ones' interests. With her second husband, Jake, this meant trail riding on horseback in Du Quoin and Shawnee. With her third husband, Doug, she spent countless hours tracking deer or simply riding shotgun in his tractor and side-by-side, relishing in being a farmer's wife. Her grandkids loved going on golf cart rides and gathering eggs at the chicken coup, so these quickly became her favorite activities as well! It was this selfless, others-centered nature that made her everyone's "mom". In fact, she took in many in need of tender care and lavished them with the love that now lives on as her legacy in the hearts of all blessed enough to have known her. After all, to have known her was to have been loved by her. This abundance of loving kindness pointed to her relationship with Jesus, with whom she placed her trust years ago. Though she was a lifelong member of Trimble Bible Church, it was the way she lived her life that bore evidence to her faith, which has now been made sight. We find both hope and assurance that her 62 years were but the beginning in light of the eternal life she found in her Savior. Waiting for her was her husband, John F. "Jake" Wesley, who she married on May 7, 1994. They enjoyed nearly 15 years of wedded bliss before his passing on December 22, 2008. She was also preceded in death by her father, James R. Skidmore, and by her step-father, Darrell Delain Manhart. On August 15, 2015, "the neighbor" married Douglas Weger, and he survives. She is also survived by her children & their spouses, Kristina & Joe Ferguson, Jessica & Paul Brashear, and Michael & Jennifer Sheese; by her precious grandchildren, Leanna, Katrina, Cadance, Eva, Liam, and Thorin; by her mother, Marilyn Manhart (who has lost her "right-hand man"); by her siblings, Jimmy & wife Sherry Skidmore and Lisa Skidmore; by her step-siblings, Larry Manhart, Beverly Allison, Sheila Oliver, Vince Manhart, William Manhart, and Mark Manhart; by her parents-in-law, Ralph & Carol Weger; by her sister-in-law & brother-in-law, Twila & Ed Osborne; by her brother-in-law & sister-in-law, Dan & Michelle Weger; by several cherished nieces and nephews, (many of whom she loved like her own); by many other extended family members; as well as her four-legged fur-babies, Izzy, Bella, and Willow. A time of visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. on Friday, May 14th, at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson. Funeral services will immediately follow and be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home, with Celebrant Curt Goodwine and Pastor David Hyde officiating. During the service, there will be an opportunity for family and friends to share their favorite memories of Tina. Burial will be in the Tohill Cemetery (rural Flat Rock). Memorials may be made to the "Trimble Bible Church", with envelopes available at the funeral home.
