Thomas Michael "Mike" McKeighen, 65, of Robinson, IL, died March 2, 2020, at Ridgeview Care Center in Oblong, IL. He was born February 23, 1955, in Lawrenceville, IL, the son of Howard P. "Tom" McKeighen & Zelma (Heath) McKeighen, both of whom preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his brother, James Mark McKeighen. He is survived by his sister, Debby Hayden (Robinson, IL); by his brother, David McKeighen (Robinson, IL); by his nieces, Michelle Brown (Darien, IL), Susanne & Jamie Hoben (Joliet, IL), and Amy & Erin Sikorski (Indianapolis, IN); by his nephew, Tommy McKeighen (Moreno, CA); by one great-nephew, Jack Brown; and by one great-niece, Charlotte Sikorski. Mike grew up in the San Diego, CA area until he and his family moved back to Illinois in 1969. Upon graduating from Robinson High School in 1973, he got on with the Carpenters Union Local #347, with whom he worked for over 40 years. Most of this time found him at Marathon, where he worked as a foreman. Anyone who knew him could attest to the fact that Mike took great pride in his work. That's not to say that he didn't know how to enjoy life outside the typical nine-to-five! His younger years found him outdoors, be that hunting or shooting. A lover of Western films from an early age, he has always displayed a proclivity to firearms, and this lifelong passion led him to join the NRA, among other similar gun advocacy groups. The quiet kindness with which Mike McKeighen lived his life will forever be felt by those who had the opportunity to know him. A time of visitation will be held from 4:00-6:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 5th at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson. A funeral service will immediately follow and will be held at 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Celebrant Curt Goodwine officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the "American Diabetes Association", with envelopes available at the funeral home. A graveside service will be held at the Lawrenceville City Cemetery at a later date.
