Thomas Glen Pethtel, 71, of Palestine, IL, died at home at 6:55 a.m. on Thursday, August 16, 2018. He was born May 22, 1947 in Robinson, IL, the son of Wilfred Gay Pethtel & Nina (Inboden) Pethtel-York, both of whom preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Dick Pethtel and Winfred Pethtel. He is survived by his daughters, Nikki Flax (Evansville, IN) and Kerry & Tim Watson (Palestine, IL); by his grandchildren, Brian Nethery and Rylee Watson; by his brothers & sisters-in-law, Dwight & Nina Pethtel (Robinson, IL), Duane & Brenda Pethtel (Central City, KY), Rick & Linda Pethtel (Palestine, IL), and Craig York (Palestine, IL); by his sister & brother-in-law, Gayla & Ray Alspach (Hardinville, IL); as well as several nieces and nephews. Tom grew up in the Robinson area and would go on to proudly serve his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Upon his honorable discharge in 1968, he worked a number of jobs before getting on with the Labor Local #1280, working road construction. Tom will be cremated with the Goodwine Funeral Home in Palestine in charge of those arrangements. His family will be conducting a visitation from 1:00-3:00 on Saturday, August 18th at the Outer West Market Church of Christ in Palestine.
