Terry Baird

Terry L. Baird, 55, of Robinson, IL, died at 2:48 p.m. on Friday, November 30, 2018. He was born February 23, 1963 in Robinson, the son of Thomas F Baird & Marie (McClanahan) Baird, both of whom survive. He married Lisa M. Hall on June 15, 1995, and she survives. He is also survived by his son, Thomas "Lukas" Baird (Robinson, IL); by his daughter, Logan Marie Baird (Robinson, IL); by his sister, Rene' Merkle (Robinson, IL); by his fathers-in-law & mothers-in-law, Walter & Linda Schalasky (Stoy, IL) and JR & Margie Hall (San Antonio, TX); by his brothers-in-law & sisters-in-law, Dennis & Laurie Jenkins (Oblong, IL), Ben & Christal McCalib (San Antonio, TX), and Leo & Mary Jo Gonzalez (Robetown, TX); by his nieces & nephews, Lindsey Merkle (Burnt Prairie, IL), Ryan Merkle (Fort Branch, IN), Tyler Jenkins (St. Jospeh, MO), Ella Jenkins (Oblong, IL), Sydney McCalib (San Antonio, TX), Lily Gonzalez (Robetown, TX), Connor McCalib (San Antonio, TX), Parker McCalib (San Antonio, TX), and Dean Gonzalez (Robetown, TX); by his aunts & uncles, Darrell & Bernice Wagner (Cleveland, TN), Faye Culbreth (Clearwater, FL), and Harvey & Charlene Chastain (Cleveland, TN); by his cousins, Mike Henderson (Clearwater FL), Terry Chastain (Cleveland, TN), Todd Chastain (Cleveland, TN), and Nicole Leamon (Cleveland, TN); as well as several great-aunts & great-uncles. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Kenneth & Sarah Baird; and by his maternal grandparents, Maurice & Jewell Mclanahan. Terry grew up in the Robinson area and was a 1981 graduate of Robinson High School. He would eventually get on with Hershey, where he worked in the Maintenance Department for 26 years. When he wasn’t at work, he was spending time with his beloved son and daughter. They enjoyed fishing together and these were moments he treasured. There was hardly anything that filled Terry with more pride than to watch Lukas run in his events, and he cherished showing Logan how to fix things. They even had a special laugh and signal that they shared together. He was Lisa’s best friend, and was, by all accounts, a family man, through and through. It proved difficult to spend any length of time around Terry without finding yourself laughing, and his sense of humor will be dearly missed by his family and community that adored him. A time of visitation will be held from 3:00-6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 5th at the Highland Church of Christ in Robinson. A memorial service will follow and will be held at 6:00 p.m. at the church with Pastor Shane Bopp officiating. Memorials may be made to a college fund for his children Lukas and Logan Baird, with checks made payable to “Lisa Baird”. Memorial envelopes will be available at the church. The Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson is in charge of arrangements.
