Suzette Steele, age 69, of Robinson, Illinois, passed away on Friday, July 12th, 2024, in the comfort of her home, surrounded by her family, following a period of declining health.
Born November 4th, 1954, on Charleston Air Force Base in Charleston, South Carolina, she was the daughter of Lawrence (Bus) Stevens and Peggy (Sackrider) Stevens. She primarily lived in Atlanta, Georgia, until she permanently made her home in Robinson in 1968, where she attended and graduated from Robinson High School in 1972. On August 25th, 1979, she married Kevin Steele, and he survives.
After high school, Suzette attended Parkland College in Champaign, Illinois, graduating with a degree in Dental Hygiene. She then dedicated 38 years to Newlin Family Dental, where she nurtured a deep love and passion for treating patients. Suzette and her husband were active members of Highland Church of Christ in Robinson, Illinois. She cherished her time with her small group and volunteered to teach Sunday school and help in the nursery for many years. Suzette had a heart for animals, always having pet cats and dogs. She enjoyed beach vacations and traveling with family and friends. Later in life, she discovered a passion for cycling in the local area and across the Midwest, and she also held a keen interest in shopping, always maintaining an elegant taste. Suzette had a profound love for her family and treasured the moments spent with her grandchildren. Though we all wish we had more time with her, we find comfort in knowing she is reunited with her mother in heaven. We will miss her immensely.
In addition to her husband of nearly 45 years, she is also survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Zach Steele and wife Andrea (Dixon) Steele of St. Joseph, Illinois and Jedd Steele and wife Jessica (Sanders) Steele of Robinson, Illinois; her five grandchildren, Owyn Steele, Kallie Newbauer, Charlie Steele, Drew Steele, and George Steele; and her sister, Debra Walsingham of Atlanta, Georgia. Preceding her in death were her parents, Lawrence (Bus) and Peggy Stevens, and her sister, Stephanie Stevens.
A special thank you to Ali Antencio for being a caregiver to Suzette during her last months.
