Susan Lynne Kurtz, 64, of Flat Rock, IL, found herself in the loving arms of her Savior on February 24, 2022, when she passed away in the comfort of her home, surrounded by her family. She was born May 28, 1957, in Bicknell, IN, the daughter of Everett & Eva Avanell (Faith) Loving, both of whom preceded her in death. She married her best friend, David Kurtz, on May 15, 1982, and they enjoyed nearly 40 years of marriage before her passing. She is also survived by her daughter, Jennifer Kurtz; by her son & daughter-in-law, Christopher & Mitzi Kurtz; by her granddaughter, Harper (with another grandchild expected in August); by her sister & brother-in-law, Christine & Tim Keasling; and by several extended family members, including her beloved nieces & nephews.
Susan grew up in the Bicknell area and was a 1975 graduate of North Knox High School. Though she worked in a number of healthcare settings, including Regional Hospital in Terre Haute and Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes, she dedicated most of her productive years to being a full-time mom to her two beloved children, Jennifer and Chris. Her love for them bore fruit into the good people they have become.
Eventually, she re-entered the workforce, and for the last 15 years, Susan was a warm, familiar face at the Casey State Bank in Flat Rock. Those who knew her best can't help but reflect on her life with a smile. After all, she was one of those rare, naturally funny people without ever being purposefully humorous! The joy she found in her life was an overflow of her walk with Jesus. We find peace and assurance that, by the grace of God, the faith Susan clung to throughout her 64 years has been made sight.
