Susan F. Dunlap, 71, of Clinton, IN, formerly of Robinson, IL, died May 15, 2021, at Union Hospital in Terre Haute, IN. She was born August 7, 1949, in Aurora, IL, the daughter of Wayne P. LeMoine & Lila Jean (Sutherland) LeMoine-Charbauski, both of whom preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Melissa; by her brother-in-law, Richard Marks; and by her step-father, Jack Charbauski. She married Michael L. Dunlap on March 17, 1968, and he survives. She is also survived by her children & their spouses, Tammy & John Johnson, Michael W. & Glenda Dunlap, Vicki & Randy Decker, and Dawn Martin; by several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; by her sisters, Renee Marks, Valerie & Bill Dunlap, and Stacey Allen; by several nieces and nephews; as well as by her beloved cat, Sammy. Sue grew up in the Aurora area before moving to Lawrenceville as a teen, where she worked at Dunlap's Harley Davidson. A caregiver through and through, she also worked as a nurse's aide and babysat for countless area children, jobs that brought both meaning and fulfillment to her life. Eventually, she moved to Robinson, where she became the "VP of Operations" for Best-Way Carpet & Upholstery Cleaning, a company she helped run with her husband Mike for over 30 years. Away from work, few things brought her more joy than collecting trinkets from various antique and secondhand stores. Back home, she'd busy herself working a DIY craft with her oldest daughter, Tammy, with whom she also enjoyed countless hours shopping. These were great sources of enjoyment in the twilight years of her life, as were solving word search puzzles. She also found great satisfaction in tending to her flowers and plants. It could be said that the tender care she gave to her blossoms was indicative of the love she so selflessly poured out on others. It was evident that Sue didn't know a stranger and would regularly invest herself into people who were "down and out". In fact, it was her nature to put the needs of others ahead of her own, a trait that led her to become something of a motherly figure to many. Even her neighbors knew her as "mom", and she would be quick to tell them how much she loved them. It would be impossible to try to fully express what this dear woman meant to her loved ones. She was her children's best friend and champion, and also filled that role for their spouses as well. She was cherished by her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and her sisters, nieces, and nephews will never forget her. In fact, she left an impact in the hearts of her family that could never be filled. After all, it has been said that life can be the same after a trinket has been lost, but never after the loss of a treasure. A time of visitation will be held from 2:00-4:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 20th at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson. Memorials may be made to "St. Jude Children's Research Hospital", with envelopes at the funeral home.
