Steven L. Kerr

Steven L. Kerr, 76, of Annapolis, IL, passed away on March 17, 2023, at Deaconess Midtown Hospital in Evansville, IN. He was born on January 10, 1947, in Oblong, IL, the son of George & Katherine (Kreisch) Kerr. He grew up in Oblong and Robinson and attended Robinson High School before serving in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Back home, he found employment at Briggs Pottery before making a move to Marathon. Most of his career, however, was spent at TRW in Marshall, IL, where he worked for many years before retiring. Much of his time at home found him outside taking care of his beloved property. He was proud of his homestead, especially of the trees he had planted and raised to health. Steve also enjoyed a slew of other outdoor activities and hobbies such as gardening, fishing, firearms, and photography.

An expert behind the grill, Steve spent innumerable hours charring or smoking meat, often for family and friends who had come over for a visit. Though he was something of a private man, it was evident that his core relationships played a central role in his life. He valued time visiting with friends at their cabin on the river, and they loved nothing more than cracking open a cold one alongside him at his pond. They, as well as his beloved children, Vinnie and Gracie, could speak to the man's deep and abiding love of music and of his uncompromising and headstrong nature. The memories they have shared with this dear man will live on in their minds, and the love they have shared will live on in their hearts for as long as they live.

He is survived by his son, Vinnie Kerr; his daughter, Gracie Kerr; his brother, Mike Kerr; as well as several nieces, nephews, and other extended family members. He was preceded in death by his parents, George Kerr & Katherine Kerr, and by his sisters, Judy King, Jane Dunn, Kathy Correll, Lisa Kerr, and Susan Parish.

A time of visitation will be held from 12:00-3:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 25th, at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson. A memorial service will immediately follow and be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday with Celebrant Curt Goodwine officiating. During the service, family and friends will have the opportunity to share stories from Steve's life. Memorial contributions may be made to the "VFW Transportation Fund", with envelopes available at the funeral home.
