Sterle B. Lingafelter, 83, of rural Annapolis died at 5:10 p.m. on Wednesday, June 3, 2009, at his residence. He was born December 9, 1925 in Licking Township, Crawford County, IL, the son of Bruce Lingafelter and Thelma Gower Lingafelter. He served in the U. S. Navy on an ammunition supply ship in the Pacific Theater. He owned and operated Lingafelter Trucking Co. for many years. Sterle was a Lifetime Member of the Hutsonville American Legion Post #742, a member of the Robinson V. F. W. Post #4549, and a member of the Illinois L. S. T. Association. He was also a 53 year member of the Robinson Masonic Lodge #250. He married Doris Pauline Hills on August 30, 1947 and she survives. He is also survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Erland and Martha Lingafelter, Hutsonville; his sister and brother-in-law, Elaine and Rondell Napier, Hutsonville; several nieces and nephews, and a special niece and nephew, Lisa and Steve Tracy, Annapolis.Funeral services will be Saturday, June 6th at 11:00 a.m. at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson. Billy Ray Ulrey is in charge of services. Burial is in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, rural Annapolis. Visitation will be Saturday, prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Memorials may be made to the United Life Care Ambulance Service with envelopes at the funeral home or mailed to United Life Care, 301 S. Cross, Robinson, IL 62454.
