Stephen Kent Simpson, 66, of Robinson, Illinois, died on September 14, 2019, in the comfort of his home after a year of failing health. He was born March 30, 1953, in Robinson, IL, the son of David Kenneth Simpson & Velma Lee Simpson. In 1972, he went to work for Victor Dana, where he was a valued employee until he retired as a maintenance craftsman in 2005. Outside of work, chances were that Steve was in the garage, working on a Corvette. Simply said, he was a genius mechanic. Without notes, he could build a car from the frame up without forgetting a bolt! Although cars were his first love, he was always eager to build something different. Steve was the best! He will be remembered as a "straight-shooter", someone who wasn't afraid to say what was on his mind. Family and friends alike loved him to no end, and he will be missed more than he could ever know. Life will never be the same without him. He married Barbara Enlow on November 4, 1971, and she survives. He is also survived by his children & spouses, Stephen Patrick & Carrie Simpson (Robinson, IL) and Christy Nicole & Rusty Fuller (Victor, ID); by his grandchildren, Christian Guy, Stephen Riley, and Casey Ryan; by his mother, Velma Simpson (Robinson, IL); by his brother, David Simpson; and by his niece, Cassandra Simpson. He was preceded in death by his father, David Kenneth Simpson; by his paternal grandparents, Ray & Ellen Simpson; by his maternal grandparents, Millard & Dorothy Davis; and by his niece, Casey Simpson. It was Steve's wish to be cremated without any public services. The Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson is in charge of cremation arrangements.
