Stanley A. Batman

June 11, 1942 — January 17, 2023

Stanley Alan Batman, 80, of Oblong, IL, died unexpectedly on January 17, 2023. He was born on June 11, 1942, in Robinson, IL the son of Maurice and Veda Batman. Stan spent 8 years in the US Navy, serving on submarines including the Sam Houston. He returned to Robinson and was employed at Marathon Oil Company until his retirement.

Stan married Dorothy Ann Allen "Dottie" on July 4, 1964. Stan and Dottie were married for 45 years before she passed away on January 16, 2010.

Stan was well-known in Crawford County and always had a friendly smile and kind words. He was a dedicated father to his two children and was actively involved in the local Boy Scout troop. Stan was also involved in community service organizations, including the Masonic Lodge, where he served as Grand Master. He was also involved in the Lion's Club.

Stan enjoyed fishing, playing cards, and gardening and shared with anyone in need. Stan enjoyed car races and loved driving - fast! He also had a strong dedication to his church and spent many active years at Highland Church of Christ in Robinson and, more recently, Oblong First Christian Church.

Stan prayed frequently and had a very close relationship with God.

Stan married Pam Cunningham on September 29, 2011. They enjoyed many years of traveling and spending time with family and friends. Stan quickly earned the title of Grandpa Stan with Pam's grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They were both active in their church and the Oblong Community.

Stan is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Alan and Delberta Batman, Madison, IN, and his daughter, Leanne and John Anderson, Davenport, IA; by four grandchildren, Ruslan Batman, Isaac Anderson, Nate Anderson, and Luke Anderson; and by several nieces and nephews and additional grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Stan was preceded in death by his parents, Dottie, and his brother, Steve.

We all know that Stan is racing a car in Heaven; drive fast and be at peace!
