Shirley A. Utterback

Shirley A. Utterback, 83 of rural Oblong, IL, died Saturday, December 15, 2007 at Cotillion Ridge Nursing Center after an extended illness. She was born January 11, 1924 in Robinson, the daughter of Earl Henry and Ruby Hunt Henry. She was a mother and housewife and had worked at the Case Pottery for 3 years; L.S. Heath and Sons for over 5 years; and for Cotillion Ridge Nursing Center. She was a member of the Oblong First Christian Church; the KJU Circle; the C. & G. Club; the Robinson Moose Auxiliary, the Oblong American Legion Auxiliary; and the Oblong Rovers Camping Club.Shirley married Robert Utterback on July 18, 1942 and he preceded her in death on October 14, 1993. She was also preceded by her parents; her daughter, Sheila Patterson; her sister, Billie Mowery; and her two brothers, Dean Henry and Richard Henry.She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Greg and Carolyn Utterback, Oblong; her 3 daughters and sons-in-law, Deanna and Richard Trowbridge, Lawrenceville, Nancy and Bruce Ochs, St. Marie and Sherry Barrett, Robinson; 11 grandchildren, Jason Utterback, Billings, Montana, Jeff Utterback, Oblong, Bob Carter, Oblong, Eric Carter, Robinson, Shawnee Woods, Oblong, Lindsey Cooper, Oblong, Jacob Ochs, St. Marie, Amie Draper, Mt. Carmel, Lorie Barrett, Annapolis, Lisa Patterson, Angie Patterson, Altamont; 8 great grandchildren; 2 sisters-in-law, Gayle Henry, Springfield and Merba Henry, Arkansas. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, December 19th at the Goodwine Funeral Home, Robinson. Rev. Harry Randolph is in charge of services. Burial will follow in the Oblong Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 18th at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Oblong Academic Foundation or to the American Cancer Society, with envelopes available at the funeral home.
