Sherrie Malicoat

February 15, 1953 — September 13, 2019

Sherrie Malicoat, 66, of Robinson, IL, died September 13, 2019, at the Mayo Clinic Hospital in Phoenix, AZ. She was born February 15, 1953, in Palestine, IL, the daughter of Harold Harrison, Jr & Doris (Duncan) Harrison. She graduated from Robinson High School in 1971 and went on to further her education at Illinois State University, where she obtained her bachelor’s degree in education in 1975. For 31 years, Sherrie worked at the Heritage in Hutsonville, IL, and loved being able to care for all its residents, especially those who served this great country of ours. In fact, her life was marked by giving. She simply had this selfless way about her, as evidenced by the endless barrage of calls, cards, and gifts she gave to family and friends, as well as to those she saw to have a need throughout the years. She had wit coming out of her ears and loved nothing more than to make you feel better through her wonderful sense of humor. Sherrie absolutely loved to cook as well and made over 40 lbs of fudge each Christmas for her loved ones, to the point that it became an annual expectation! Music was a longtime passion of hers, and over the course of her life, Sherrie lent her beautiful, one-of-a-kind voice to 2,440 weddings, innumerable funerals, Rotary Club and Lions Club meetings, and other various civic functions. A follower of Jesus, she attended Highland Church of Christ for many years. Some people hide their faith, and the world around them stays dark, but Sherrie let her light shine throughout her 66 years. And now, the faith she's clung to for so long has been made sight, and she's experiencing the fullness of our Lord alongside her Savior and all of those who have gone on before her in faith. She married Roger Malicoat on August 18, 1979, and he survives. She is also survived by her mother, Doris Harrison (Robinson, IL); by her sister & brother-in-law, Mindy & Buck Camden (Mesa, AZ); by her brother & sister-in-law, Harold & Kay Harrison (Sullivan, MO); by her daughters, Misty LeBlanc, husband Robert and their three children, Megan, Mallory and Lucas (Columbia, IL) and by Brandi Maxwell, her husband Chris and their children, Audrey and Taylor (Robinson, IL). She is also survived by her brother-in-law, Fred Malicoat and wife Shirley (Mitchell, IN); by her sisters-in-law, Janet Malicoat (Spencer, IN) and Glenda Malicoat (Spencer, IN); by her aunts, Rosanne Hart (Robinson, IL) and Peggy White and husband Paul (Cofeen, IL). Several nieces and nephews, Kristie Meyers (Fairfax, VA), Andrew Buckle (Indianapolis, IN), Heather Brendal (Sullivan, MO), Amber Wallace (Palestine, IL), Jeff Camden (Kennasaw, GA), Shane Camden (Dugger, IN), Kelly Camden (Linton, IN), Chris Johnson (Terre Haute, IN), Kenzie Johnson (Bicknell, IN). Rita Eads (Bloomington, IN), Doug Maliocat and Curt Malicoat (Bloomington, IN), Angie Thompson (Palestine, AR), and several great-nieces and nephews also survive; as does her friend and co-worker, Rena Smith (Hutsonville, IL). She was preceded in death by her sister, Debbie Murray; by her brother-in-law, Steve Murray; and by her father, Harold Harrison, Jr. Her family would like to offer a special "thank you" to Terri Burke in Mesa, AZ. A time of visitation will be held from 3:00-7:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 21st at the Highland Church of Christ in Robinson. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 22nd at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson. Burial will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery.
