Sheri Harrington

August 21, 1963 — July 10, 2019

Sheri Harrington, 55, of Robinson, IL, died on Wednesday evening, July 10, 2019 at her home in Robinson. She was born August 21, 1963 in Chicago, IL, the daughter of Jerry L. & Carol L. (Thompson) Gower. Sheri grew up in Hutsonville and was a 1982 graduate of Robinson High School. From an early age, her love of animals was apparent. One of her favorite childhood memories was playing “Operation: Sneak Garfield into the House”, whereby she and her brother would sneak the cat inside and hide it under their covers, much to the chagrin of her parents! Family meant everything to Sheri. She had nicknames for each of the kids in the family, and her above-average memory meant that she never forgot a birthday or anniversary. In fact, those closest to Sheri have many fond memories of her calling them up just to sing the birthday song when it came around every year. Music played an important part in her life. For years, she enjoyed numerous concerts in Terre Haute and also enjoyed listening to the sounds of Shaun Cassidy, Tom T. Hall, Kristy McNichol, among others. Her family could never forget her hugs or the love she genuinely poured out on each of them. The fact that she left behind a place that cannot be filled is a high tribute to her. Life can be the same after a trinket has been lost, but never after the loss of a treasure. Sheri was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church in Robinson. Because she put her trust in Jesus Christ, we who remain here have the assurance that today, she is freed from the pains of this world and is experiencing glory alongside her savior. She married Jeff Harrington on July 15, 2005, and he survives. She is also survived by her father & step-mother, Jerry & Nova Gower (West Union, IL); by her brother & sister-in-law, Steve & Trish Gower (West Union, IL); by her step-brother, Rod Kenderdine; by her step-sister Conna Jewell; by her nieces and nephews, Miranda Steinman, Rachel Gower, Julie Gower, Jerry Gower II, Rachel Shirey, Sarah Kenderdine, Josh Kenderdine, Sean Jewell, Collyn Jewell, and Seth Jewell; and by her great-nephew and great-niece, Toby and Elara. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Lloyd Esten Gower & Gladys (Stephens) Gower; by her maternal grandparents, Andrew Herschel Thompson & Elma Lenore (Culp) Thompson; by her mother, Carol Gower in 2002; by her brother, Michael Gower and sister, Linda Kay Gower, both in infancy; and by her niece, Skylar Rain Gower, also in infancy. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 16th at the Hutsonville Cemetery. In honor of her several years of employment there, memorials may be made to “Lawrence Crawford Association for Exceptional Citizens”, with envelopes available at the cemetery. The Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson is in charge of arrangements.
