Sandra "Sue" Neibarger, known affectionately to her family as "Lovie," passed away peacefully at Willowbrook Memory Care in Marshall, IL, on October 12, 2023. Born in Robinson, IL, on June 4, 1946, her high school years were spent in the halls of Robinson High School, where she graduated with the Class of 1964. She soon found work at TRW in Marshall, where, on a lunch break, she was introduced to the man who would become her husband: Dee Neibarger. Following a courtship of six months, they married on May 26, 1966. Their early days of marriage took them to Florida, where Dee was stationed in the Air Force briefly before being sent overseas during the Vietnam War.
When Dee returned, Lovie settled into the life of a homemaker and played a significant role in managing the family and disciplining their children into the good people they would become. In 1981, ushering in a new chapter, the family moved back to Marshall after spending a number of years living in Fithian and Cullom, IL. Lovie found work at Layco Manufacturing, where she won respect and affection for her work ethic and charming firmness. She then flipped the pages of her career to Stephens Apartments before winding up as a vital figure in the receiving department of the Paris Wal-Mart. It was here that she retired in 2013, but not before having made innumerable friendships along the way.
Outside of work, Lovie was a woman of many talents and interests. She loved gardening, especially nurturing her geraniums, and doted on her cat, Gracie. An avid hobbyist, she enjoyed making Barbie clothes and painting owls, yard gnomes, and ceramics. With a knack for decorating, she infused her creativity into making her house a warm, welcoming space.
Prone to greeting everyone with a "Hi honey," she was a friend to many and an enemy to none. Everyone who knew her would affirm she was indeed the most loving person one could hope to meet. Lovie's gentle nature gave her the unique capacity to be simultaneously tender and strong, not unlike her Savior. She was devoted to Jesus and was a longtime member of Olive Branch Baptist Church and, later, the First Congregational Church in Marshall. We find peace and assurance knowing that she has been delivered from the heavy chains of this world and into the loving arms of her Heavenly Father. We'll see you soon, Lovie!
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Dee Neibarger; by her children & their spouses, Ronald Dee Neibarger & Babbie Dillon, Suzanne Reneé & Charlee Schoncheck, Randall Wade & Cheryl Neibarger, and Shari Lynn & Ryan Newlin; by her grandchildren, Leanna Marie, Kassidy Cierra, Jessica Lynn, Ryan Wade, Brooke Reneé, Megan Elizabeth, Anna Franciska, Kaitlin Jo, John Robert, Tyler Wayne, Ashton Skye, Gage Ryan, Taylor Reneé, Danielle Lynn, and Bentley Harrison; by her brother & sister-in-law, Wayne & Mary Dix; by her sister-in-law, Linda Dix; as well as several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl Otto Dix & Lois F. (Lamb) Dix, and by her brother, Ron Dix.
