Sandra “Sandee” Kay (Eveland) Mitchell, 72, Attica, passed away in the Ascension St. Vincent Williamsport Hospital, with her family, by her side, on Tuesday, October 31, 2023 at 10:20 p.m.
Sandee, as she was known to family and friends, was born in Palestine, Illinois on November 23, 1950. She was the daughter of the late Roscoe Eveland and Lucy (Dunlap) Carver. Sandee was raised in Palestine, Illinois and graduated from Palestine High School in 1969. She later moved to Attica in 1989.
Sandee cleaned houses for local families in and around Attica. She was devoted to her family and was also a stay-at-home mother. She later tended bar for the Eagles, Moose and V.F.W. in Attica.
She was a member of the Eagles Lodge, Moose Lodge and V.F.W. Post in Attica. She enjoyed bowling and watching her game shows. She liked to go dancing, but her favorite past time was the time spent with her family, especially with her grandchildren.
Sandee was first married to Gary Lawhead. She later married Richard “Mitch” E. Mitchell on July 25, 1987 in Effingham, IL. Mitch preceded her in death on May 17, 2017.
Sandee leaves behind her four children, Amy King (John Alexander), Van Buren, AR; Natasha Wilderman (Matt Sundt), Zach (Candi) Mitchell and Levi Mitchell, all of Attica; her fur baby, Mortee; a sister, Melody Ramsey (Miguel Villa), Robinson, IL; thirteen grandchildren, Seth, Trenton, Shaelyn, McKenzie, Addisyn, Indie, Payton, Natali, Quinn, Owen, Roman, Evie and Elliott; several great-grandchildren; two step sisters and a step brother; a sister-in-law, Bertha Eveland, Atwood, IL. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Patsy Kirk and Joyce Rigg; three brothers, Chuck Eveland, Everett Eveland and Darrell Eveland.
Friends may call at the Maus Funeral Home, Attica on Saturday, November 4th, from 12:00 p.m. until service time at 2:00 p.m. with Dave Clark officiating. Burial will follow in the Pine Village Cemetery, Pine Village, IN. Memorial contributions may be made to the Riley Children’s Hospital.
