It is with heartfelt remembrance that we honor the life of Ryan L. Waggoner, a symbol of radiant joy, extraordinary generosity, and boundless love. Born in Olney, IL, on May 16, 1968, Ryan would grow to become the epitome of a "jack of all trades," a man whose knowledge towered across numerous fields and whose warm laughter and infectious smile were a beacon of positivity to those around him. This exceptional man we had the privilege of knowing and loving was tragically taken from us in June of 2023.
Ryan spent his formative years in the Hardinville, IL area, where he began nurturing his thirst for knowledge and skills. His voyage into professional life began soon after his graduation from Robinson High School in 1986. Ryan proved to be remarkably industrious, venturing into various fields like oil, agriculture, carpentry, and mechanical work - a testament to his boundless interests and laborious spirit.
Though Ryan was incredibly skilled professionally, his real strength lay in his character. Always one for jovial banter, Ryan had a heartwarming habit of teasing and "tormenting" his loved ones with that playful twinkle in his eye. Yet, despite his lively demeanor, he was a soft-spoken, private individual who radiated warmth and affection. Family, in particular, was always front and center for him, and touching stories, such as a young Ryan sleeping on the floor to comfort his elderly grandmother, give us glimpses into his profoundly kind and empathetic heart. This inherent kindness led him to constantly stretch out his hand to anyone in need.
When he wasn't jerry-rigging a car or helping someone remodel their home, this good ol' country boy could be found outside, as Ryan's soul was deeply rooted in nature. His zeal for hunting and fishing was comparable to none, and his passion for coon hunting in his early years earned him the affectionate nickname "Coon Dog." His deep-seated love for his four-legged friends never waned, and he could train up a dog like no one else could. In fact, his beloved Australian Shepherd, Molly, obeyed his every word!
It must be said that, over the course of his life, Ryan formed a deepening connection with the Lord, with his faith becoming more pronounced in his later years. This spiritual awakening reflected in his daily life, warming his heart and filling it with compassion.
In the face of tragedy, we should remember that Ryan's life was more than the unfortunate circumstance of his passing. After all, he was a beacon of light in a dark world, ever ready with a smile and a helpful, capable hand. Although we grieve that his life was taken from us, we will forever be grateful for all the life he gave away.
He is survived by his parents, Martha Louise Inboden and Billy Lewis & Carla Waggoner; by his siblings & their spouses, Lisa & Jim Weaver, Stacy Lee Waggoner & Lorilee McCoy, and Tara & Bud Rains; by his half-brother, Trevor Waggoner; by his step-brother, Denver Musgrave; by his step-sister, Jessica Musgrave; by his daughter, Kara Siler; by his grandson, Dallas Waggoner; by his nieces and nephews, Justin Weaver, Jessica Waggoner, Jordan Waggoner, Jared Waggoner, Jailyn Mitzelfelt, Sierra Coleman, and Sydney Caldwell; and by several aunts and uncles. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Byrl "Pat" & Dora Inboden and Willard & Lucille Waggoner.
A private family service will be held at a later date, and the Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson is in charge of these arrangements. Memorial contributions in Ryan's memory may be made to the "Riley Hospital for Children", with memorial envelopes available at the funeral home.
