Ruthie Gallington Fowler, 73, of Paris, IL, formerly of West Union, IL, died on June 29, 2022, at Paris Healthcare Center in Paris, IL. She was born on January 28, 1949, in Vigo County, IN, the daughter of Maurice & Juanita (Hargis) Wernz. She grew up in the West Union area and was a graduate of Marshall High School. On June 14, 1968, she married Dennis Gallington, and this union brought their daughter Denise into the world. Though she spent the first few years of her daughter's life at home, she longed to interact with others, leading her to join the workforce. She initially worked for a number of local banks and Emro Propane before finally landing at Earl's Supper Club, where she was a staple for nearly 20 years. Here, Ruthie was able to interact with the public in a way that satisfied her relational nature. She loved the job, and it showed.
Away from work, chances were she was tending to her yard, a pastime that brought her a well-earned sense of satisfaction for many years. Sundays often found her gracing the doors of the West Union First Baptist Church, where she was a longtime member.
Resolute and headstrong, Ruthie's determination of spirit served her well throughout her 73 well-lived years. Though she is gone, she will never be forgotten.
She is survived by her daughter, Denise Williams; her grandchildren, Lacey & Landon Rauch and Landon Williams & Maddie Verostko; her great-grandson, Carter; as well as her great-granddaughter, Bristol, due in August. She was preceded in death by her parents, Maurice & Juanita Wernz; her husband of 30 years, Dennis Gallington; and her sister, Sharon Lee Gulyas.
