Ruth Ellen Rich

Ruth Ellen Rich, 61, of Robinson, IL, died at 8:45 a.m. on Tuesday, August 11, 2020, in the comfort of her home. She was born on March 6, 1959, in Robinson, the daughter of Oral & Betty (Hall) Utterback, both of whom preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Jean Currie and Connie Utterback. She married David Rich on December 23, 1978, and he survives. She is also survived by her son, Chad Rich (Robinson, IL); by her grandchildren, Emma Rich and Parker Rich; by her sisters, Donna Sullivan (Robinson, IL), Mary Jane & Jack Meeks (Robinson, IL), and Barbara & John White (Robinson, IL); by her brother, Jerry & Denise Utterback (Robinson, IL); as well as several nieces and nephews. Ruth grew up in the Robinson area and was a graduate of Robinson High School. Though she worked a number of jobs early in her career, she would go onto become a CNA in the early 1990s. Those who were fortunate enough to know her could attest to the fact that her calling into healthcare fit her caring, compassionate personality. Professionally or personally, she was always there to be a help or an open ear to those who needed it. After an injury forced her out of the workplace after 20 years, much of Ruth's time and energy were focused on her beloved grandchildren, Emma and Parker. They were the light of her life, and few things brought her more joy than watching Emma sing or Parker play ball. In short, her family meant everything to her. They will remember with fondness her many delicious baked goods, especially her fudge, which was a staple at every holiday season. Ruth Rich lived a good life, in that it was a life marked by caring, sacrificial love. We can never, nor could we ever forget her. A time of visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 13th at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson. PLEASE NOTE THAT COVID-19 GUIDELINES WILL BE OBSERVED. SOCIAL DISTANCING MEASURES WILL BE IN PLACE, AND IT IS REQUESTED THAT ALL ATTENDEES WEAR FACE COVERINGS. Cremation will follow the visitation. Memorials may be made to the "American Diabetes Association" or to the "American Cancer Society", with envelopes available at the funeral home.
