Ruth E. Fields, 73, of Robinson, IL, died February 13, 2021, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes, IN. She was born on October 29, 1947, in Indianapolis, IN, the daughter of George C. & Virginia Ruth (Hightshoe) Boucher, both of whom preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death; by her sister, Pam Boucher (in infancy); by her brother, Jeff Boucher; by her husband, Wayne Fields; and by her daughter, Stacey Miller. She is survived by her children, William Rose, Sheila Rose, and Joe Rose; by her grandchildren, Jessica Bonnell, Robin Rose, Justine Solis, Chris Rose, Naudia Solis, Bryce Soper, Jennifer Sheese, Jonathan Rose, Christian Drury, Caitlyn Drury, Emily Miller, and Brooklyn Miller; by eight great-grandchildren; by her siblings, Stephen Edward Boucher, Deborah York, Rose Meeks, and John R. Boucher; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members. Though she worked a couple jobs over the course of her life, it was evident that her life's work was at home. She epitomized what it means to be a homemaker, as she dedicated most of her 73 years to tend to her house and all who called it "home". Those fortunate enough to enjoy her cooking could attest to her prowess in the kitchen. Her spaghetti pie, in particular, was the stuff of legend! She was also an ace at playing cards and dice. In fact, gambling was a great source of joy in her life, and she spent countless hours working her way around slot machines. Though she was known to be more than a little stubborn and ornery, her heart belonged to her beloved family. They brought life to her living, and in return, she provided them with a picture of how to live with strength and endurance. Her loved ones have lost both a matriarch and a rock in Ruth Fields, but her legacy lives on in the hearts and minds of all who knew her. A time of visitation will be held from 4:00-6:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 18th at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson, IL.
