Ruth A. Maddox

Ruth A. Maddox, 78 of Palestine, IL died at 4:55 a.m. Friday, December 31, 2010 at Cotillion Ridge Nursing Home, Robinson. She was born February 7, 1932 in Flat Rock, IL, the daughter of Arley Tracy and Mary Elizabeth York Tracy. She worked in production at the L. S. Heath, Robinson for thirteen years and worked another thirteen years as a housekeeper at Cotillion Ridge Nursing Home after retiring from L.S. Heath. Ruth delivered for Meals on Wheels for many years. She was a member of the Robinson Church of Christ.Ruth married Gerald Wayne Maddox on October 19, 1952 and he preceded her in death on January 8, 2007. She was also preceded in death by her parents; 4 brothers, Clarence, Donovan, LaVerne and John Henry Tracy; and 4 sisters, Mable Shinkle, Arlene York, Helen Smith, and Stella Davis.She is survived by 3 adopted daughters and sons-in-law, Tracey (Doug) McCord, Bellaire, Stacey (Rick) Wilken, Paris, Elizabeth (Gary) Walters, Newton; 10 grandchildren, Amber Cramer, Bethany McCord, Jordan Wilken, Jennifer McCord, Sierra Wicks, Levi Inboden, Shane Hawkins, Aspen Wilken, River Wilken, Gary Keith Walters III; 2 great-grandchildren, Lily Ann Cramer and Cayden Wicks; special niece, Becky Earnest; special nephew, Burl Shinkle; and several other nieces and nephews.Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday January 4, 2011 at the Robinson Church of Christ with Pastor Raymond Warfel and Bro. Allen Griggs officiating. Burial will be in the Pleasant View Cemetery, rural Palestine. Visitation will be held from 5:00 €œ 7:00 p.m., Monday, January 3, 2011 at the Goodwine Funeral Home, Palestine and from 1:00 €œ 2:00 p.m. at the church preceding the services. Memorials may be made to the Crawford County Meals on Wheels or to the Robinson Church of Christ with envelopes available at the funeral home and at the church.
