Rozella F. Seaney

Rozella F. Seaney (Rozie), 83, of Palestine, IL, fell asleep at her home in Palestine and woke up in Paradise with Jesus on December 26, 2022. She was born October 6, 1939, in Palestine, the daughter of David Richards & Mary (Coulter) Richards. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Palestine.

Rozella married John Seaney on May 14, 1966. She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister & brother-in-law, Marjorie & Raymond Brashear; and her brother & sister-in-law, Don & Dona Richards. Rozella is survived by her husband of 56 years, John Seaney; her daughter, Kelly & Richard Cheek of Oblong, IL; her son, Todd & Anita Seaney of Hutsonville, IL; her grandchildren, Tiffany & Trenton Clapp, Derek & Nicole Seaney, Ryan Cheek, Kacey Cheek, Katie Cheek, Debra Gunn, and Steven & Yolanda Cheek; her great-grandchildren, Lexi, Devin, Connor, Harper, Emersyn, and Sailor; 3 great-grandchildren, several foster great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren; and her sister-in-law & brother-in-law, Cheryl (Seaney) & John Bruner of Indianapolis, IN. She is also survived by several nephews and nieces, as well as many cousins.

Rozella's love for her family was, and as she told them, will always be everlasting. "Rozie" was the first woman to actually work inside the Marathon Refinery as office manager for Foster Wheeler in the early 1960's. After finishing that job, she went on to work for the farm advisor for a couple of years. She returned to the refinery in 1968 as office manager for Sheehan Pipeline and later for Morris Construction, retiring in 1991. She will be lovingly remembered for her honesty and the spirited way she lived throughout her 83 years. She was always there to listen and to give advice to those in need.

A time of visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. on Friday, December 30th, at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Palestine. Funeral services will immediately follow, with Rev. Paul Gray officiating. Burial will be in the Palestine Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the "St. Jude Children's Research Hospital" or to the "Salvation Army", with envelopes available at the funeral home.
