Roy Dewayne Cork

March 16, 1952 — April 11, 2019

Roy DeWayne Cork, 67, of West Union, IL, passed away April 11, 2019 in the comfort of his home. He was born March 16, 1952 in Terre Haute, IN, the son of Margaret Ellis Cork and Clay Cork, Jr., who preceded him in death. Roy attended Hutsonville High School and graduated in the class of 1970. He retired after 40 years as a member of Labor Local #1197. He was also a member of the West Union Christian Church, as well as a past member of the West Union Volunteer Fire Department and spent countless hours helping plan and present the fireworks display on the 4th of July. For a number of years, he ran a produce stand as well, selling vegetables from the several community gardens he and his family worked. When he wasn’t working, Roy could often be found rooting for his beloved Chicago Cubs or operating his HAM radio, going by the call-sign “WA9WKK”. Anyone who knew him could also attest to his love of music. Simply put, few things brought him more happiness than strumming his six string. More than anything, however, Roy loved his family. They were his pride and his joy, and will now live on as his legacy. He is survived by his wife, Karen; by his daughters & sons-in-law, Amanda & Brian Dunlap, Courtney & Jacob Pettigrew, and Samantha Cork & Cas Sciarrillo; by his son & daughter-in-law, Travis & Brandy Willison; by his brothers & sisters-in-law, Mike & Lynette Cork and Don & Carolyn Cork; by nine grandchildren, Mason Dunlap, Bryson Dunlap, Kainen Pettigrew, Breana Pettigrew, Hudson Pettigrew, Haley Dellinger, Conner Willison, Cooper Willison, and Finn Willison; and two nephews & nieces-in-law, Michael & Laurie Cork and Wayne & Janet Cork. A time of visitation will be held from 9:00-11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 17th at the Prust-Hosch Funeral Home in West Union. Funeral services will immediately follow and will be held at 11:00 Wednesday at the funeral home with Pastor Ken Gillaspy officiating. Burial will be in the Walnut Prairie (Brick) Cemetery. Memorials may be made to “Lincolnland Hospice”, with envelopes available at the funeral home.
