On Saturday, January 2, 2021, Roscoe William ‘Bill’ Johnson, loving husband and father, passed away. He was 73. Bill was born in Birds, Illinois in 1947 to Marvin and Zelda (Ferguson) Johnson. In 1968, he married Cathy Goodwin and together, they raised their two children, Shelley and Matt. Bill was preceded in death by his parents and brother Marvin Wayne Johnson. He is survived by his wife Cathy, his daughter & son-in-law Rusty & Shelley Ridgley of Parrish, Florida, his son & daughter-in-law Matt and Jessica Johnson of Huntingburg, Indiana, and his four grandchildren Hayden Ridgley, Sydney Ridgley, Evalynn Johnson, and Zachary Johnson. Bill’s career allowed him to live and work all over the United States. After his corporate career, Bill was a serial entrepreneur starting many small businesses and spending time with his family. Bill graduated from Lawrenceville, IL High School, earned his A.S. from Vincennes University, B.S. from Regis University, and M.S. from the University of Denver. Bill’s interests included drag racing, hunting, woodworking, and banana pudding – not necessarily in that order. Always quick with a funny story, Bill enjoyed spending time with friends, family, and was most proud of his 4 grandchildren. Due to the increased public safety measures being enforced by the State of Illinois, funeral services will be private. Bill will be laid to rest in the Seceder-Maxwell Cemetery, rural Flat Rock, IL. Memorial donations may be made to the "Palestine Food Pantry". Checks may be mailed to: Goodwine Funeral Homes 303 E Main St. Robinson, IL 62454 The Goodwine Funeral Home in Flat Rock is in charge of arrangements.
