Rosabel "Rosie" Jenkins, 91, of Robinson, IL, died on Sunday, January 17, 2021, at Cotillion Ridge in Robinson. She was born on August 23, 1929, in Robinson, the daughter of Rev. Loren Catt & Ruby (Simons) Catt, both of whom preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her infant daughter, Omara Kay in 1953; by her sisters, Donna Whitsel and Nina Stone; by her brothers, Kenny Catt, John Howard Catt (in infancy), and Leo Don Catt (in infancy). She is survived by her son & daughter-in-law, Steve & Janet Jenkins (Robinson, IL); by her daughter and son-in-law, Loretta & Charlie Mouser; by her grandchildren, Chris & Carol Guyer (Palestine, IL), Richie & Tiffany Guyer (Mt. Carmel, IL), Emily & Ben Rardin (Bloomington, IN), Melissa Jenkins (Carol Stream, IL), David Jenkins (Lexington, KY), Matthew Jenkins (Champaign, IL); by her great-grandchildren, Chance Guyer, Kendra Guyer, and Chase Guyer; as well as several nieces and nephews. Rosabel grew up in Robinson and was a 1947 graduate of Robinson High School. During WWII, she worked at Woolworth's Department Store and acquired the nickname "Rosie.” She was employed at Ettelbrick Shoe Factory, Robinson Transformer, and the Robinson IGA, where she was the night manager for many years. She also cleaned houses for several area families. In 1986, she retired and moved to Panama City, FL, where she became a district manager for Amity Leather and supervised WalletWorks stores, which required her to travel all over the United States. In 2003, she retired again and moved back to Robinson to be closer to her family and returned to IGA as a sales clerk. After her 3rd retirement, Rosie worked part-time at the Deer Run Golf Course for the next three years until she turned 86 years old. Although she busied herself with work all of her adult life, she took time to enjoy her grandchildren and attended nearly all of their school events, concerts, and performances. Rosie loved to dance. She was an avid square dancer and took line dancing classes at Lincoln Trail College. It could be said that dancing was the cornerstone of her social life and was what kept her young for most of her 91 years. Even as she became physically unable to dance, she still loved listening to music. Rosie lived a productive, unfiltered life at her cadence and on her own terms. Due to the public safety measures being enforced by the State of Illinois, funeral services will be private. However, a live stream of her service will be available to the public starting at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 20th. This can be viewed on Goodwine Funeral Homes' Facebook page or by going to https://www.goodwinefuneralhomes.com/live-stream/live-stream. Rosie will be laid to rest in the Robinson New Cemetery.
