Ronda Jo Gullett

October 5, 1939 — December 2, 2022

Ronda Jo Gullett, 83, of Robinson, IL, passed away on December 2, 2022, in the comfort of her daughter's home. She was born on October 5, 1939, in Centralia, IL, the daughter of Ross O. & Wanda J. (Zeitler) Wood. She grew up in Salem, IL, where she enjoyed the nearness of her beloved grandparents, who played no small part in raising her. Eventually, her family moved to the Robinson area, where she graduated high school in 1957.

On June 7, 1958, she married Larry Gullett, and to this union were born four children, Holly, Matthew, Eric, and Dea. Ronda spent most of her energies making a home for her young family. They may not have always had what they wanted, but her kids always had what they needed. They will forever remember how much their mother sacrificed to provide a good life for them. The goodness of life was evident every day at 11:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. when she had lunch and dinner on the table and ready to be enjoyed. And enjoyed it was! Her fried chicken was the stuff of legend, and her homemade noodles were, in a word, incredible. Even her liver and onions were met with approval (no small feat for any parent!) What's more, she was able to whip up these dishes (and many more) without the aid of a recipe. Her natural giftings were also apparent in the countless outfits and costumes she fashioned together for her family. They weren't the only beneficiaries of Ronda's sewing skills, but her community was as well, as she provided an alteration service that enjoyed the satisfaction of many local customers. Though she worked from home for several years, eventually, she found employment at Wal-Mart, where she worked for 25 years before retiring as a customer service manager in 2011.

Much of her free time found a young Ronda out on a softball field or enjoying the company of her bowling league friends at the bowling alley. At home, this creative soul enjoyed quilting and writing poetry. Such was her love for the written word that she also immersed herself in the pages of innumerable books by authors like Stuart Woods and Stephen King. Her appreciation of literature was perhaps second only to her passion for music. Though she couldn't carry a tune herself, Ronda and Larry could certainly cut up a dance floor, hopping and swaying to the beat of 50's bands like The Platters. Though Ronda's song has ended, her life's melody lingers on in the hearts of those who enjoyed its beauty.

She is survived by her children & their spouses, Holly & Christopher Boesiger (Robinson, IL), Matthew Gullett (Moriches, NY), Eric & Pauletta Gullett (Robinson, IL), and Dea & Darron Mikeworth (Robinson, IL); her grandchildren & their spouses, Nicholas Decker (Robinson, IL), Jordan & Emily LeGout (Jacksonville, FL), Jaime & Ryan Garrard (Robinson, IL), Jared & Emily Gullett (Robinson, IL), Kaitlyn & Frank Reding (Vincennes, IN), Benjamin & Jaclyn Gullett (Hillsborough, NJ), Andrew Gullett (Fate, TX), Ryan Mikeworth (Champaign, IL), and Connor Mikeworth (Champaign, IL); her great-grandchildren, Amaya Brimberry, Ashton Decker, Landan Allen, Benjamin LeGout, Eleanor LeGout, Wade Reding, Erika Garrard, Sydney Garrard, Blake Gullett, Zara Gullett, Maeve Gullett, Samuel Gullett, and James Gullett; her first great-great-grandchild, expected in March; her brother & sister-in-law, Dusty & Sue Ann Wood (Indianapolis, IN); her sister & brother-in-law, Dee & Allan Johnson (Libertyville, IL), her sister-in-law, Mary "Mick" Wood (Robinson, IL); as well as many nieces & nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Larry Gullett; her parents, Ross & Wanda Wood; and her brother, Doug Wood.
