Ron Duplessis

November 14, 1941 — December 7, 2021

Ron DuPlessis, 80, of Robinson, IL, passed away on December 7, 2021, at Ascension St. Vincent in Evansville, IN, following an extended illness. He was born November 14, 1941, in Saint Paul, MN, the son of Roy & Helen (Seidel) DuPlessis. Ron grew up in the suburbs of Chicago, IL, and was a graduate of Marquette University and Chicago Kent College of Law. In 1978, he became a real estate broker and, over his career, gained experience in residential, commercial, farmland, and oil & gas interests. Upon moving to Crawford County in the early 1980s, Ron worked in marketing and as a secretary/treasurer for Vette Energy, eventually working for their subsidiary, ZX Oil Production. From 1989-2014, he was a broker/owner of Colonial Homes Real Estate, Inc. before becoming the managing broker of United Country Burke Auction & Realty. Ron truly enjoyed his time at Burke's, and his co-workers could tell you that he was a vital part of its operation. He was incredibly knowledgeable about all things real estate. It should come as no surprise then that he was an Illinois Real Estate Board member. Away from work, Ron could often be found rooting for his beloved Chicago Cubs or immersed in an old western novel. He was, by all accounts, an intelligent man who enjoyed exercising his mind through working crosswords, and was one of those rare people who could spell just about anything you threw at him! More than anything, it was spending time with his friends and family that brought life to his living, especially his granddaughter, Jayden, who was THE love of his life. We are thankful that Ron DuPlessis left behind a legacy of love and excellence that will live on in our hearts forever. Left behind to mourn his passing is his wife of 34 years, Carolyn DuPlessis (Robinson, IL); his step-daughter & son-in-law, Elisa & Johnny Lytis (Robinson, IL); his granddaughter, Jayden Jones (Robinson, IL); his brother & sister-in-law, Thomas & Paula DuPlessis (MA); his niece, Seana (MA); his nephew, Tommy (MA); his mother-in-law, Mildred Hein (Robinson, IL); and his sister-in-law, Bonnie Gifford (Robinson, IL). He was preceded in death by his parents. A celebration of life is to be held at a later date. The Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to the "V.F.W. Transportation Fund", with envelopes available at the funeral home.
