Roger Paul Zinke

October 28, 1938 — May 15, 2018

Roger Paul Zinke, 79, of Robinson, IL, died at 3:59 p.m. on Tuesday, May 15, 2018 in the comfort of his home. He was born October 28, 1938 in Hillsboro, WI, the son of Otto Julius Zinke & Mamie (Keller) Zinke, both of whom preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Darlene (Granger) Zinke; by his sister, Dora Peterson; by his brothers, Edward Zinke, William Zinke, Sidney Zinke, and John Zinke; and by his step-son, Doug Divine. He married Lois (Churchwell) Divine on June 2, 1999, and she survives. He is also survived by his daughters & son-in-law, Rhonda & Kevin Stickels (Indianapolis, IN) and Randi Zinke (Sullivan, IN); by his son & daughter-in-law, Ryan & Amanda Zinke (Maryville, IL); by his step-children & their spouses, Jackie & Jerry Griffith (Vincennes, IN), Cindy Divine (Robinson, IL), John & Penny Divine (Maryville, IL), Susan & Ronnie Hawkins (Robinson, IL), and Chris Divine (Robinson, IL); by 9 grandchildren, 5 step-grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. If anything could be said about Roger Zinke, it’s that he was an honest man who held himself and those around him to a high standard of integrity. He simply looked for the best in others and gave the best he had. This proved true in both his personal life and professional life. He was a petroleum chemist for Marathon Oil, with whom he was employed for 28 years and where he built countless relationships. Following his retirement in 1994, he could often be found at Hardee’s or McDonald’s, having coffee with friends, solving the world’s problems one day at a time. It was this period of his life that found he and Lois travelling to Branson, MO, a trip they made annually. It was a favorite destination and they made it a point to try to take in every show. Faith also played a key role in Roger’s life, having attended Robinwood Assembly of God for over 30 years. He had a love for God’s word, as evidenced by his impressive collection of Bibles. Roger Zinke lived a full life: he saw much, lived well, and loved with a vigor that will last forever in the hearts of his family and friends. A time of visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Friday, May 18th at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 19th at the funeral home.
