Robert Malcolm Ramsey, 79, of rural Robinson, IL, died at 9:27 a.m. Wednesday, January 2, 2008 at Crawford Memorial Hospital, Robinson. He was born February 8, 1928 in Palestine, IL, the son of Earl Clinton Ramsey and Margaret Doris Alexander Ramsey. He graduated from Palestine High School in 1945. He served in the U. S. Army following WWII in Japan. He retired from the Plumbers and Steamfitters Local #157. He was a member of the New Hebron Baptist Church, Robinson Elks Lodge, and Robinson American Legion Post #69.He married Wanda Crampton on October 1, 1950 and she survives. He is also survived by 1 son and daughter-in-law, Duane and Donna Ramsey, Purcell, OK; 2 daughters and sons-in-law, Debbie and Robin Catt, Robinson, Denise and Clarence Walton, Robinson; 10 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; 1 brother and sister-in-law, Ralph and Beverly Ramsey, Pekin; 1 sister and brother-in-law, Norma and Earl Mendenhall, Palestine; and several nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Jean White; and his brother, Don Ramsey.Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 5, 2008 at the New Hebron Baptist Church with Brother Jack Clay and Brother Bill Gunn officiating. Burial will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery, rural Palestine. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Friday, January 4th at the Goodwine Funeral Home, Robinson and from 1-2:00 p.m. Saturday at the church preceding the services. Memorials may be made to the New Hebron Baptist Church with envelopes available at the funeral home and at the church.
