Robert Glen Estep, Jr., 73, of Robinson, IL, died February 2, 2022, at Regional Hospital in Terre Haute, IN. He was born May 20, 1948, in Robinson, the son of Robert Glen Estep, Sr. & Frances (Richards) Estep, both of whom preceded him in death. He married Diana L. (Davis) on June 9, 1969, and she preceded him in death on June 8, 2012. He is survived by his children & their spouses, Perry J. & June Root (Omaha, NE) and Robert Neal & Robbie Estep (Robinson, IL); by two grandsons, Perry J. Root II & wife Lexie Root (Colorado Springs, CO) and Terrance J. Root (Omaha, NE); by his sister & brother-in-law, Phyllis & Ben Pinkstaff (Robinson, IL); by his brother & sister-in-law, Gary & Susan Estep (Martinsville, IL); as well as multiple nieces, nephews, and cousins. Bob grew up in the Robinson area and was a 1968 graduate of Robinson High School. Though he soon found work in the steel mills of Gary, IN, his time here was short-lived. Upon moving back home to Robinson in 1971, he became a staple at Victor Dana, where he worked in several capacities for 41 years before retiring from the maintenance department in 2012. Much of his free time found revolved around sport. While he was still able, he spent countless hours teeing off on a golf course and was also known to do quite a bit of fishing in his day. For a number of years, Bob umpired girls softball and American Legion baseball games and was even asked to umpire a few state tournaments! Anyone who knew him could attest to his love of Chicago sports, as he was an avid Bears and Cubs fan. Watching the boys in blue alongside his family provided Bob with some of the most cherished memories of his life. After all, his loved ones meant the world to him. Few things brought more life to his living than simply spending time with them. They will remember Bob Estep as an austere, friendly soul who was always ready with a helping hand when the going got tough. May we who are left behind remember his 73 years with thanksgiving, reflecting on what he taught us through the way he lived his life. A time of visitation will be held from 9:00-11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 12th at the Robinson Free Methodist Church, with a graveside service following in the Robinson New Cemetery. Pastor Aaron Peternel will officiate. In honor of his love of dogs, memorials may be made to the "Crawford County Humane Society", with envelopes available at the church or at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson, who is entrusted with arrangements.
