Robert "Fuzz" Morecraft, Jr.

Robert "Fuzz" Morecraft, Jr., 76, of Flat Rock, IL, passed away on June 26, 2022, at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes, IN. He was born on March 5, 1946, in Paris, IL, the son of Robert Sr. & Garnet Morecraft, both of whom preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his son, Mark Morecraft.

He married Peggy Morris on August 12, 1984, and she survives. He is also survived by his two sons, Kevin & Janet Morecraft and Shawn Morecraft; by eight grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren; by his sister, Carolyn Sue Shirley; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Bob grew up in Marshall, where he would eventually graduate high school. He would go on to proudly serve his country in the U.S. Navy. We are humbled by the generosity of spirit that enabled this dear man to selflessly protect the liberties of his fellow man.

Back home, he would work in the cereal mill for a brief time before finding employment at Marathon, working his way up to chief operator over the course of his career. Many vacations were spent outdoors, be that whitewater rafting or hiking. Over several years, he trekked most of the Appalachian Trail, oftentimes accompanied by Peg. It shouldn't come as a surprise, then, that the man enjoyed running as well. When his health allowed it, he took part in many local 5ks, 10ks, and various charity runs.

Those who knew him best will remember Bob as a quiet man who wasn't one for fanfare nor glory but found meaning and value in the simple things of life. May we be challenged by his 76 years so that our lives may serve as his legacy for years to come.

A time of visitation will be held from 4:00- 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 29th, at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Flat Rock. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 30th, at the funeral home, with Fred Morecraft officiating. Following a meal at the Flat Rock United Methodist Church, graveside services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday at the Marshall Cemetery. Here, military rites will be accorded by the Marshall V.F.W. Post #5975. Memorial contributions may be made to "Flat Rock United Methodist Church", with envelopes available at the funeral home.
