Robert E. Withiem

Robert E. "Bob" Withiem, 80, of Marshall, IL, died on August 28, 2019, at Marshall Rehabilitation & Nursing in Marshall. He was born July 23, 1939, in Sumner, IL, the son of Bradley & Hallie Withiem, both of whom preceded him in death. He married Nancy Carol Maglone on November 8, 1963, and she preceded him in death on August 22, 2009. He was also preceded in death by his 12 siblings. He is survived by his daughter & son-in-law, Rita Lynn & Trent Wallace (Marshall, IL); by his son & daughter-in-law, Brad & Ruth Ann Withiem (Effingham, IL); by 3 grandchildren, Chris & Lauren Withiem, Lauren Withiem, Taylor & Lauren Wallace; and by 1 great-granddaughter Faye Withiem. Bob grew up around Lawrenceville, IL and later moved to Hammond, IN for a short period of time before he returned to meet his future wife. He would go on to work for Briggs Pottery in Robinson for over 30 years before retiring. Away from work, he could be found enjoying family or helping a neighbor. A longtime Baptist, Bob put his life in Jesus' hands. Because he was washed in the blood and saved by grace, we who share that same assurance find peace in knowing that the faith he clung to in this life has been made right. Through him, Bob's children, grandchildren, and great-grandchild have all come to know the Lord as well, and more than anything else, this will forever be his legacy. A time of visitation will be held from 9:00-10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, September 3rd at the Prust-Hosch Funeral Home in West Union, IL. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home with Pastor Keith Wallace officiating. Burial will be in the Hutsonville Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the "Baptist Children's Home & Family Services", a multi-faceted family crisis center in Carmi, IL, consisting of four ministries that work together to protect, heal and restore struggling children and families. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
