Robert "Bob" Johnson

August 12, 1941 — December 30, 2021

Robert "Bob" Johnson, 80, of Robinson, IL, died December 30, 2021, at Cotillion Ridge in Robinson. He was born August 12, 1941, in Carmi, IL, the son of Cecil & Anna May (Parks) Johnson. He grew up in the Lawrenceville and Carmi areas and was a graduate of Carmi High School. He would go on to further his education at Murray State before getting hired to work for Marathon Pipeline, a job that took him from Illinois and Ohio all the way to Louisiana. Eventually, the Johnsons moved back to the area to be closer to family, moving to Robinson in 1981 after finding work with Bradford Supply. Bob would work his way up to become the Vice-President of Purchasing for the company before transitioning to M&M, where he worked in the same capacity for several years. Eventually, he decided to start his own business, Complete Lawn Care, before ending his career as a realtor. He appreciated the rhythm of this stage of his life: Bob would begin his day at Weber Realty and work there until noon; lunchtime often found him with a friend, enjoying each other's company (and, of course, some good food); and the rest of the workday was dedicated to the oil wells, which became his hobby after leaving full-time oilfield work. Though he was known to keep his nose to the grindstone, he never missed any of his grandchildren's ballgames, a testament to the love he had for them. In fact, it could be said that this hard-headed man had a tender heart. He was known to put himself in a bind to help someone and consistently put others' needs before his own. His concern for the well-being of his fellow man led him is likely what led him into the fraternal brotherhood of Freemasons. A member of the Robinson Masonic Lodge #250, he was also a member of the Ainad Shrine, with whom he took part in countless parades all over the area. We could never forget his life, nor fully express just how deep an impact he made on his family, his friends, and his community. He is survived by his daughter, Tonya Jameson (IL); by his sons & daughters-in-law, Rick & Angie Johnson (Robinson, IL) and Matt & Kamee Johnson (Robinson, IL); by his grandsons, Logan & wife Lexi, Parker, Cole, Chase, Reese, and Rowen; by his granddaughters, Jaedyn and Addison; as well as one great-granddaughter on the way! He is also survived by his sister, Deloris & Dennis Domanski (Cedar Park, TX), and many extended family members. It was Bob's wish to be cremated, and services will be held at a later date. The Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson is in charge of arrangements.
