Robert "Bob" Allen Kurpiel

Robert “Bob” Allen Kurpiel, 64, of Green Brier, IL died at 9:24 a.m. (EST) on March 8, 2019 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes, IN. He was born August 17, 1954 in La Porte, IN, the son of Alvin S. & Mary (Musgrave) Kurpiel, both of whom preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his aunts, Eileen Price and Betty Wiman; and by his uncles, Dixie Musgrave, Denver Musgrave, and Bobby Musgrave. He is survived by his wife, Karla Brown; by his son & daughter-in-law, Shane & Cassandra Kurpiel; by his granddaughter, Emma Kurpiel; by his sister, Diane (Kurpiel) Murphy and husband, John; by his niece, Nichole Reed and husband Barry, and their children, Lyndsey and Ryan; by his nephew, Mark Murphy and wife Connie; by his uncle (and former guardian), Max Musgrave; by his aunts, Darlene Stolz and Patsy Kirts; by his aunt (and former guardian) Sharon Salesman; as well as several cousins. Bob grew up in the La Porte area before losing both parents at a young age. At the age of 16, his Uncle Max and Aunt Sharon brought him to Crawford County, where he would live the rest of his life. If one thing could be said for Bob, it’d be that the man loved cars. It was this passion for all things automotive that brought him to open Green Brier Automotive in 1978. Over the course of his 40 years in business, countless cars came through his shop, along with many satisfied customers. Much of his off-time was spent outdoors, be that fishing or mushroom hunting. Few things brought him more joy than enjoying the peace and tranquility of nature. Bob will be remembered as a lively man who truly enjoyed his life. After all, it’s not the years in your life that count, but the life in your years. The Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson is in charge of cremation arrangements. Bob’s family will have a gathering of friends at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, March 15th at the Sainte Marie American Legion Post #932, located at 105 S. Main St., Sainte Marie, Illinois 62459.
