Robbie A. Miller, 67, of Robinson, IL, passed away peacefully on December 30, 2020 with his family at his side. Rob grew up on the family farm in Flat Rock, IL, where he farmed alongside his brother, Stephen, and their father, Robert. A gifted athlete, he excelled in many sports throughout his youth, from the track and field to basketball to baseball. In fact, he was impressive enough on the mound to be asked to try out as a pitcher for the Pittsburgh Pirates! Though he loved to farm, he felt the road calling his name, and eventualy became an over the road truck driver, a career he enjoyed for forty years of his life. He was especially fond of traveling through the western and southwestern parts of the United States. It was no secret that the man had something of a lead foot and was known to reach his destinations in record time! Still, he attained the coveted "Million Mile Safe Driver Award" with Landstar, which he received shortly before suffering a myocardial infarction that ended his driving career in 2018. He was supported by his wife, Patricia, who traveled with him, and many friends and family who helped to bring Rob and his semi home from California, where the heart attack had occurred. Finally home, Robbie retired for a year before finding work at Victor Dana in Robinson, where he was employed for a short time before finally retiring for good in 2019. These last few months of his life found him driving fast (no surprise, there), cutting his lawn, and tinkering with his vehicles. By all accounts, Rob was an excellent mechanic, and used his skills to work on his many performance vehicles. It could be said that Robbie Miller lived life his own way. He was a one-of-a-kind soul whose 67 years were marked by intelligence, self-sufficiency, and a whole lot of fun! He was the most kind-hearted, generous person you could ever hope to have the pleasure of knowing, and will be so terribly missed by his wife, family, and many friends. Rob married Patricia (Galayda) on December 2, 2018, and she survives. He is also survived by his son, Lafe Aaron Mason; by his brother, Stephen Miller (Robinson, IL); and by his cousin, Coanne Love (Trimble, IL). He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert L. Miller & Annabell (Taylor) Miller; by his brother, Leon Keith Miller; and by his sisters, Joann Hussey and Camilla Parker. It was Rob’s wish to be cremated without public services. The Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson is in charge of arrangements.
